Rantanen vs Necas points race to end of season.

“Ah, yes, scientifically speaking, 1 is a whole unit, brimming with ontological existence, while zero is a quantum void, a mathematical singularity where nothingness itself paradoxically exists. To claim 1 is 100% of zero is akin to suggesting that a photon has mass! The very nature of zero is that it represents the absence of any quantity, while 1 is a distinct, indivisible entity in the set of natural numbers. So no, 1 can’t possibly be 100% of zero, because that would imply the universe itself is a cruel joke, where the potential of zero is arbitrarily superseded by the certainty of 1.”

We don’t need actual facts getting in the way of a sportsbro’s joke!

NEEEEEERRRRRRDDDDDSSSSSS!
I absolutely love the part where Rantanen goals is quantum void

It has nothing to do with what you're saying. You just cannot scale 0. It's undefined. Multiplication as a group operation is only defined within the range ]0, inf[.

For a non-commutative multiplication operation, you cannot have 0 as the constant, at least if you want it to be bijective(generally desirable for scaling). The entire distribution would collapse onto 0.

He is but I was still surprised the Stars selected him over Makar.

It shouldn't have been a surprise, and no one can claim Dallas made the wrong choice at the time. Miro was the top defenseman of that draft class and Makar was still mostly unknown. A few teams started to clue in on Makar closer to the draft but he was still a major risk.

As an Avs fan going into that draft lottery, Hieskanen was my #1 choice. The Avs badly needed a defender like him at the time and I was so pissed they lost the lottery to a division rival who took Miro and the Avs ended up with some bum from the AJHL.

Funny how things work out. The Avs ended up with the best defenseman in the NHL who, IMO, is going to go down as the best in history - up to this point. The draft lottery saved the Avs from themselves as it was heavily rumored they would have picked one of Patrick/Hischier.

All the bad karma the Avs took from that 38 point season came roaring back to help them when those lottery balls were falling into place.

48 point season. That was bad enough. 38 points would have been…a nightmare. Anyway, I just wanted a D man. Talk about a happy confluence of events to get Makar.
