Rantanen vs Necas points race to end of season.

Necas should be able to outscore Rantanen as he already scored more with lesser players with Carolina and Rantanen had a lot of empty net points which he won't get with Carolina.

My concern for the Avs is that Necas will prove to be even better player than Rantanen (which already seems to be the consensus among Avs fans) and then they have to pay him 12M+ and it'll hurt their depth going forward. Obviously you pay the man what he's worth as he can drive his own line unlike Rantanen but it's still a lot of money to tie up when you have MacKinnon and Makar making a lot of money.

Necas showed he can drive the line with inferior players on his own from the position of the winger, so he can definitely carry 2nd Avs line with superior players, i think realisticaly 10-11 milion AAV for at least 5 years should be done sooner than later because his price is going to skyrocket in the next 4 or so months. Also it would be more comfortable for both Nate and Necas as they are basically the same player(Necas is MacKinnon lite), question is if this season is not just fluke, i hope it´s sign of Necas finally putting it all together.

Rantanen definitely is that guy and a very underrated passer IMO, so hopefully they feed off eachother well. Hes as close to Jagr as weve seen in the NHL IMO.

Jagr is one of the best play drivers of all time. Rantanen is a great player but i don't see that comparison at all.

The 1st goal against was really poor defending. But where the hell was Makar ? Dude was in the other zone looking for his car.

I've had a 'fun theory' lately...

1. Necas sucks and was on a heater to start season, he's not top 10 (despite being top 10)
2. Necas sucks and plays with MacK/Makar and he's not top 10

Nonetheless... Necas is now top 10 in scoring .. again. It's almost February and more than half the season is done.

14 pts in 15 games in 2025.

From Rantanen? I have to disagree. Both are offensive Dynamos and neither is a Selke candidate. I have yet to see one stat to suggest Rants is that much better than Necas defensively. I can find plenty for the offensive end of things though.

I expect Necas to win this, he will do his own part but also get extra points from playing with MacK and Makar. I do hope Rantanen can about keep up with him though.

I for one am excited for the east coast to see how bad of a skater Rantanen has become these days. One of the best shots in the league, great on the boards, but I think some of the dads in beer league are a better skater than Rantanen is in 2025.

Colorado has atrocious depth. Their 4-6 defensemen are worse than what tank teams throw out in those slots. It's hard to see them as a real Stanley Cup contender. MacKinnon and Makar are playing out of their minds this season and with minutes like it's the Stanley Cup Finals and they're.. +5 as a team.
