Gardner McKay
RIP, Jimmy.
There are many better #6s out there.
Yeah. I don't disagree. I mean I think he could be serviceable but there are likely better options out there at the moment for a #6.

Whoa...now they can protect another Dman in the ED.
Curious, is he still capable enough for a bottom pairing role?
Best of luck to a guy who was a true warrior for this team for many years. He'll make a great veteran leader at a low cost for some rebuilding team.
Occurred to me as well. The timing is interesting...
Stepan for Trouba. Calling it now.![]()

Awesome guy, poor contract.
Play him 3rd pair minutes against 3rd and 4th lines and I'd imagine his numbers would look better.
Plays are being made, ladies and gentlemen.
Good luck to G and all that. Love the guy but he was just terrible, it'll be nice not seeing him on the ice for us next season.

Well, I guess there was absolutely no market for this guy at all. I'd rather have kept him, even if he's a 7th/spare, and bought out Staal who is completely unmovable. Not a bad move, but the guy made the most of everything he had and gave everything he had. Hard to see him go out this way.
Best of luck to him and his family.
Maybe we are misjudging the market and Staal is actually movable and Girardi isn't? Just a thought.
