Copp and Motte should just stay out there for the full 2 minutes on the PK.

Motte in particular is a phenomenal PK'er.
It's weird that we added great PKers but we've given up goals in like 6-7 straight games. What's the problem been?

And we had 2 top 6 forwards out.
We did the same thing in the 5-1 win against them. Copp led all forwards with 18:37 of ice time. But in that one we were up 4-0. So it was kinda expected the top players would get a break. But in this one, coming from behind once again, leading by only one goal with 9 minutes left is a whole different story.

This team is deep, and will benefit us in limiting the ice time of our top players so they will be fresh come playoffs.

Braun will come in handy in giving Trouba or Fox a day off the last week of the season. Man, are we gonna be ready to begin the postseason. I can see the gears turning in Gallant's head. He's got a masterplan.

Not being a Debbie Downer but I think a bunch of those wins are they are down 1-0 in the first then take the lead or at least tie the game in the 2nd. I'd like to know how many are trailing into the 3rd or at least trailing 2-0 in the 1st.

Has the “no way this team can compete in the playoffs” mindset gone away for good?
They have to make the playoffs first and Pittsburgh is awesome and Pittsburgh is this and Pittsburgh is that and even if the Rangers make the playoffs they'll have the last place position and end up playing the team that is faster than the speed of light. Let's face it . The Rangers suck. Drury sucks. They have the worst coach in the NHL, maybe in the entire history of the NHL.Have you seen him in a presser after they lost.....cool as a cucumber when he should be in full panic mode....I tell you he just doesn't care !!! For crying out loud he's directing Kreider to get in front of the net. What the hell is Chris Kreider doing in front of the net all the time ?

Its still a comeback. If they were that easy it wouldnt be the most in the league and a franchise record.

But yeah, for records to be broken you need a little bit of "luck" along the way.

But I also go back to what Vally mentioned last night. Yes, Igor is a big reason they are where they are but this team has bought in and they are all pulling the rope together in all facets. You dont have this record if that isnt the case.

And they are scoring timely goals and not getting down on themselves when the chips are down. Even if its on the PP, they are forcing the play enough to get the calls and then buckling it down to preserve the lead.

I know their underlying numbers are nothing special (im sure that is beginning to improve) but if this team isnt taken seriously now then they never will be. They have a knack for finding ways to win games.

Which is fine by me actually. Keep underestimating them.

Penguins are in their own order, Sphensiciformes. The closest related order is Procellariformes, the "tubenoses" (petrels and albatross, pelagic seabirds). "Fowl," as in chickens (Galliformes) and ducks/geese (Anseriformes), are in their own superorder, Galloanserae.

Im a marine biologist, so it irks me a lot.
“Is anyone here a marine biologist?!?”

The additions have really been a boost to this team and I think Motte has been terrific. His game isn't showing up on the scoresheet like Vatrano and Copp but he plays a very solid defensive game and is always around the puck...and making a good play with it. He's a perfect addition to the 4th line.

I think the Penguins made a big mistake yesterday.

That power play goal to make it 3-2 with Crosby on the point…that was like their wildcat offense. The Rangers had no idea whatsoever how to deal with that. These teams are going to meet in the playoffs, and if the Penguins had kept that hidden until then, that could have been a series winning tactic for Pittsburgh. Obviously Rangers will need to prep for that now too but that was a very interesting wrinkle. If I was Sullivan, there is no way I would have shown that in the regular season.

It was interesting last night that when GG shortened the bench, Fil made the cut and Johnny B didn't.

Nice to see.

Filip impresses me more with every game. No more soft play along the boards, he outmuscled 2 Penguins right behind their net late in the 3rd period. Gallant might be getting through to him because hes playing a lot like those successful Vegas bottom 6 guys. Keep it up kid and you might have a future here, you can definitely sell me on Mika-Copp-Chytil down the middle.

I can't fathom how every team we play gets away with grabbing us on the boards, constantly. Like - did our team not get the memo that the league is allowing this? Because behind the net we don't seem to be doing the same thing and just allow players to break free.

Copp gets called on a penalty that looked to be interference on the right wing 2 seconds prior. There seems to be a lot of holding and interference around the league and most players are getting away with it.

In short, look at each team currently out of playoff position, assume that they will win all of their remaining games and calculate how many points they would have. Then look at the points that the team occupying the last available playoff spot (wildcard 2) and calculate the difference and add one

NJD currently have 53 points with 16 games remaining. If they won all 16 of those remaining games, they would have 85 points. WSH are in the last wildcard spot with 84 points. So if WSH gets 2 points (85 - 84 + 1) in their remaining games, it's mathematically impossible for NJD to make the playoffs.
That’s actually simpler math than I realized. Thanks for the explanation.
