I can't fathom how every team we play gets away with grabbing us on the boards, constantly. Like - did our team not get the memo that the league is allowing this? Because behind the net we don't seem to be doing the same thing and just allow players to break free.

Copp gets called on a penalty that looked to be interference on the right wing 2 seconds prior. There seems to be a lot of holding and interference around the league and most players are getting away with it.
They've been allowing pushing and obstructing.

Need to start selling it. It's only going to get worse if it's not penalized

He and KAM have been amazing. KAM has been getting a lot of praise here and he should. He's a great young defenceman but Trouba is a big part of his success.
No doubt! Part of the big big money he got was being that "vet" presence to help along guys like K'Andre and looks like he's done a great job. K'Andre also has some amazing talents and physical traits you just can't teach.
Wish Nemeth would have done the same to a lesser extent with Nils but maybe there is some time to salvage that with Schneider looking pretty good.

By the way, I thought Panarin was much better in the defensive zone last night.
This is why I don't worry about Panarin, even when he has some games where he looks lazy and uninvolved. We can see him simply "turn it on" and he dominates the game. I really think he's kind of just going through the motions half the time now, I think once the playoffs start we will get 100% effort Panarin all game.

Shesterkin robbed them in the final surge. Sam sounded like an old man spreading cracker crumbs all over the booth with how loudly he yelled “Save by Shesterkin”.

Great moment.
This is why I will miss Sam when he retires. Those calls were pure emotion and excitement. I have no problem with the rest of his skills that have eroded some because there is not another announcer that would have that emotion on that call as there is not another announcer who cares as much about the Rangers as Sam does.

I definitely agree that he picks his spots (which most star players do) and he still gets 60 assist with 15+ games to play. The guy is unreal. Fox is very similar. We can all agree he hasn't been as good as last year, but he's still a PPG defenseman. Embarrassment of riches.

Pens fans are pretty salty about last night and how the last two games went. It's nice to be back on this side of things since they pretty much mimic the team itself. They want nothing to do with the Rangers, which is hilarious to me.

The first two periods were exactly how this team needs to play the rest of the way and in the playoffs. Limit chances, be aggressive and don't allow the other team space.

The last 10 minutes was more of the pre-deadline Rangers, lots of scrambled play. The penalties did not help in that regard.

2nd line looked fantastic with Copp in the middle. Strome isn't just pricing himself out of a job, he's going to get outplayed for it too.

Motte is a breath of fresh air in the bottom 6. If he had any finishing ability, he'd be a top 6 player.

Vatrano is exactly what the team needs. Willing shooter. Good wheels. Good on the forecheck.

Every pick up has been exactly what the team needed. Fit like a glove in the system too. I just cannot wait to get Kakko back and add even more depth to the team.

The team finally has the depth to play 60 minutes. They can roll 4 lines. I went and looked the Pens post-game board and the fans are a fairly frustrated bunch. They were convinced the Pens didn't match our effort. I think it's that's a really good sign for us because in reality I thought the Pens did play pretty hard but we made them look that way with our pressure, speed and puck responsibility. Aka -- hard to play against.

Up to the TDL, our lack of depth has meant that every game ends up being close and we have to over rely on our best players. It has been exhausting for them for a good chunk of the year. What we need at some point down the stretch here is a few games where we enter the 3rd with a comfortable lead. Where we can play our bottom 6 more than our top 6. This should only build more chemistry but also give the big guys a chance to breathe a bit before the playoffs. That's the hope at least. Ideally, Shesty plays a bit less down the stretch too, but with Georgy in net it means we'll have mostly close games unless he can get into a groove.

It would be great if we can get Fox and Lindgren a rest at some point too.

Lastly -- the most important thing for the remainder of the year is finishing strong and with a ton of confidence. If we feel like we can beat anyone, it will radically shift our chances in the playoffs. I am always reminded of the 2014 Kings who looked pretty bad for a good chunk of the regular season and then after the trade deadline caught fire and never looked back.

i'm usually not this person but Pittsburgh got away with literally anything they wanted that last 10 minutes. it was shocking. and Copp got called for a love tap on a guy that was already on his way down. Malkin's headshot on Zibanejad from behind was just icing on the cake.

I had to do deep breathing exercises after Malkin did that so I wouldn't get crazy. Oh, how I hate that team. Also, Vatrano took a wicked slash to the back of the leg and got away with it. Thankfully, he didn't get hurt but it could have been a disaster. That was a horrible call on Copp, he was going for the puck and the guy lost his edge. These refs are maddening.

Yeah, he specifically goes for Zibanejad's head and puts full force into hitting right into it. A normal player in that scenario pins Zib while trying to get the puck. A scumbag does what Malkin did.

We shouldn't be shocked though, he never faces any consequences for his garbage,
I cant stand Malkin. Im hoping Trouba lays him out next game. He had him lined up a couple of times and pulled up. After seeing that, let it fly Troubs

Malkin plays like shit->gets frustrated->dirty hits commence. Par for the course with him for his whole career. Trouba will be foaming at the mouth seeing him in the NZ with his head down.

Malkin also had a good whack on Panarin's glove in the Ranger end in the third.....was after he and another flightless bird sandwiched a Ranger in the corner . It was sneaky and is usually called .....but...was Malkin ! I was shocked the Pens got the extra two at the end of the 2nd.
