Post-Game Talk: Rangers vs Islanders 1/21

He's a very very good player...but I just sorta have this gut feeling that he's the kinda player that will fade, and fade BADLY when he hits his early to mid 30s

just my opinion...

I think he is the second best player in the league and will end up an all time great. The ones who usually fade are speed-dependent. Tavares is not. He is the total package.

Tavares is unique among top players because he doesn't feed on space and time, he's best with a lack of it. There as few as good at maneuvering and making plays right in front of the net with defenders on than Tavares. He's dangerous whether you are focusing on him or not. And, as we have seen, he makes any wingers he plays with much, much better.

my take from the game, coming in peace:

--Whatever rust period Nash was trying to get over after his injury is clearly gone...the guy is in beast mode right now...by far the best player on the ice

--cam talbot is a very good goalie, not sure why he is getting blame...not a great rebound on McDonald's goal, but as a whole, not one goal was his fault and he is steady as he goes...do you think you will keep on to him for the long haul or use him a trade bait?

--the new MSG is absolutely beautiful....i was there last night and it is one of the nicest arenas i have ever been in

--i think it is kinda BS how you use the fact "the rangers dont get up for these games like the isles" as an excuse. if it is truly the fact, AV should be fired and half the team should be shipped out...this is a big game in a playoff race...GET UP!!

--JT, is JT....actually had a bad game, but somehow still manages to make the big play to win the game and finish with 3 points

--Poulin has been getting better and better...still a ways to go, but he has the ability to make the big, flashy save that not all goalies can, a la the glove save on McDonagh and the pad save on Nash...Still not sold on him, but i would love to see him continue to grow..

here is to next week's tilt...lets hope we both make the playoffs and meet in the "New Patrick Division Finals"

Go isles!

For more than a decade now, The Rangers don't seem to care about the Islanders as much as the Islanders care about the Rangers. regardless of roster, or coaches. The rangers have bigger fish to fry (Devils, Philly, Pitt, Wash) than the Islanders. Maybe when the Islanders get good that will change, but for now, i can understand why the Rangers don't consider playing a last place team as a "big game"

what music did they play after the game last night? any good jokes told? i love how people seem to know the mindset of the locker room....im not doubting that any of you guys are real fans or know the team well, but come on....

im as big an isles fan as there is, but i laugh when isles fans claim that cappy didn't motivate the team well tonight or something of that sort....we just dont know...we aren't inside the locker room

If that makes you feel better about last nights loss than so be it, but this is a team that is very much still in the playoff race with the Devils(a more IMPORTANT TEAM you mentioned) not far from them in the standings.

Ignoring them is like trying to sit on a 2-0 or 3-1 lead and the next thing you knew it's 5-3.

But please.....ignore us.

It is a shame they will have to vacate by 2023.

Don't know how the city could do that after 200+ million dollars in renovations, seems really irresponsible of NYC.

The Rangers have underestimated both the Devils and Isles this year, and it's definitely not a mindset I agree with. 1-4-1 record against both teams. Not only should they be taking these opponents more seriously, but they should be bringing more intensity against some of their fiercest rivals.

.

You are at the bottom of the standings with almost 2/3 of the season gone. The islanders are done. Dont buy into the false sense of hope that the "New NHL" points format gives you.

No one has to buy into anything, it's remarkable you totally ignored the standings.

If the season ended today the 8th seed would be Columbus with 54 points, the Isles are at 49 or 3 wins/6 points from that spot. There are 30 games left, or a total of 60 points, so please tell me how you came up with the Isles are "done?" lol
