Me after turning off the game up 3-1 with a 2-man advantage.

The OEL blast was a knucklepuck AND he got absolutely all of it, as Stepan did. He got beat by two absolute snipes. Blaming the goaltender on those is just asinine.

It's as you stated. The team absolutely didn't play in the 3rd period. You're in control of the game going into the 3rd, up 3-1. No excuse for what they did.

No one is mentioning the 2-on-0, and eventually a breakaway save in OT right before the Stepan goal. Howden missed his opportunity, Zibanejad had a good chance. OT is run and gun.

We had our opportunity to control the game in the 3rd and they thought they could take the night off and win. They deserved to lose this game.

Just a brutal loss.[/QUOTE]

Yup. I would almost want a 7-0 blowout loss than a gut wrenching loss after blowing another multiple goal lead. Unfortunately I think there are plenty more to follow.

I've called out Henrik many times...he's let in some horrible goals over the years...he wasn't why we lost tonight...I'm surprised so many people thought he was. The rangers just stopped playing after they scored their 3rd.
Lmao you and @nevesis are putting words in my mouth. I specifically said I blame both the team and Henrik, but apparently, I can’t blame Henrik on hfboards.

The defense on this team is the biggest problem by far. That was expected to happen I guess when MacD got traded and the hopes were that Skjei could be a top pairing Dman. He was brutal tonight as he has been for much of this year.

I distinctly remember you saying this loss was completely totally 500% on henrik...I think it was the same post where you said Sharknado deserved and Oscar?
Lol touché.

But if you’re not joking, and I did say I blame only Hank for the loss, I take it back. I have trouble remembering things sometimes.

Not for nothing but if Pionk didn’t take that stupid penalty, after he himself crashed into Hank, we probably hold the lead. Coyotes had nothing going at that point. Completely changed the momentum of the game. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

Is it just me or does Howden fan on the puck a lot? That was a pretty bad time for him to fan on it in OT, prob should’ve scored there.
I have less of a problem with that than lets say, Smith stupid penalty that caused a momentum swing in that other game.
He had a reason WHY he did that, he tried to defend Hank. Who knows, maybe Hank said....."go after him".? It may have been stupid, but maybe not that stupid. It was early enough in the game......THAT shouldnt have been the reason WHY they lost.
A bad pinch, a fan on a wide open net, a missed save, bad coverage, not taking advantage and scoring MORE PPG's when they had the chance. Like Zuccha said, we should have ended the game with that 5 on 3 advantage. Tons of other things. Winning teams ordinarily NEVER lose a game like this, this was their Christmas gift......who cares. In 2 years, talk to me about this missed opportunity to get an extra point that doesnt amount to shit. In fact, take the other one as well, we dont need it this year.
Also want to add.......history shows and i will remind everyone......teams that don't score on a legit 5 on 3 (not 2 seconds mind you) lose momentum and more often than not (maybe 60% i will guesstimate) will lose the game.
We have NEVER been a "stab them in the heart" type team, nor ever good at executing a 5 on 3. Shatty or no, Pionk or no, we NEVER have been desperate enough and shoot enough with 2 man advantage. That needs to change, not necessarily now, and this year.....but needs to be better moving forward. Because next year.....we may NEED to be great at it. Like good teams are.

Do People actually think this team isn't a bottom feeder?

I do, but I'd like us to start acting like it. Hovering on the edge does us no favors unless we make the playoffs and get the rookies some experience. And I'm pretty darn sure we won't. So Hank keeping us in games, and finishing in OT with a loser point doesn't help much.

My positive takeaway is that, even though we seem to have no ability to maintain leads or come back to hold leads, we do compete. I know Hank is a huge reason why (yes he gives up softies and is not perfect, I know, it's OK), and we tend to punch up early in games...

So like I've said early on and will maintain throughout the season, I don't want to see us lose badly and get blown out, but if we're not going to make the playoffs at all (or preferably for 2 rounds) and get kids experience, then we're better off competing and losing games by a goal. Just not in OT.

The idea of watching the Hawks, Kings, Devils, Flyers, etc pick top 5 while we pick 10th is the worst outcome I can think of.

To be honest with you Larry, as much as I would love a top 5 pick, I cannot be happy with a loss like this. In fact, I physically can't be happy with a loss ever.
Dont EVEN get me wrong......I am NOT happy by no means, just for a change, I am really in touch with reality. I dont want shots of instant gratification. Hank wants that, and understandably many do. I get it......its just that i am too old, and not willing to do this half assed. Sacrifice a ljttle here and there, and maybe just maybe we will get a few players that will be amazing with the Kravtsovs, K'Andre's, Buchnevich's, and the rest of those worth a damn....with any luck.
Again, dont wanna lose 35 of the next 50 or so......but, u knlw what k am getting at. At least dont LOSE games at home and especially not like this. I get it, i really do.

Why is Hughes not an option?
Its an "option", but i think everyone is thinking it belongs to Pittsburgh. I mean, why wouldn't anyone even half believe that? They dominate for a decade, have ONE bad year, get a generational player and then they are well on their way again. Our pick, will probably jump off a high rise building. Our luck anyway, not like something similar hasnt happened to us.
