I'd say we still got him for free. It was a two-for-one deal. The main player on the other side was Powe. So I'd say Palmieri was still acquired for "free".

Despite our excitement over the deal because of the way it fits our team's particular needs, Rupp is still a more valuable commodity than Powe. Especially to a team like Minnesota, who have all of 2 or 3 players who have ever been deep in the post season.

I don't care what Rupp's value is to Minnesota. I care about what we got. Powe went to the SCF with Philly in the 09-10 season. Excellent 3rd/4th liner, helps fill the void left by Prust. Palmieri, if he comes into his own, will be a solid addition to the bottom six as well.

2 guys with potential to be regulars in our bottom 6 for rupp is ay-okay with me. both teams just wanted to change things up. i guess minnesota is hoping rupp has a rejuvenation with a new team. we'll lose his toughness to start, but we'll see where it goes. it was a linear trade at worst. best of luck to rupper in minnesota. he didn't work out great here, but he won us the winter classic, and that counts for something!

only thing that worries me is the potential of miller being forced up

That's fine, but has absolutely nothing to do with what you said in response to my comment on Palmieri. If Minnesota valued Rupp more than Powe, we could've gotten a pick or something out of them while still having claimed Palmieri two weeks ago. That's all I was saying.

Excellent trade! I liked Rupp as a person but as a player he kinda was meh and had a bad cap hit too. Still will never forget him for his WC performance though.

By the way, my favorite Rupp moment besides the Winter Classic?

On one of the national broadcasts last season, Olczyk said the line "Rupp got the two for rupping."

Re listening to the Tampa game. With about 8 minutes left in the 2nd period the Rangers announcers note the fact that Rupp and Ferriero have not been on the ice for a long time and might be in the dog house.

Not that it had anything to do with what ultimately happened today. That ship may have sailed a while ago.

Sather killin it again in trades -- I think we got a great return for Rupp.

Asham can handle Rupp's duties plus we get a huge improvement on the PK and defense in general, Powe 2nd highest blocked shots last year.

I see what you're saying. I just don't give a **** about how Minny views the trade

I see Rupp for what I see him as, and I believe getting two guys for him is a steal.

Yeah, he was great in the WC. That game and the time that he went ape on Kopecky after punching DZ were both great moments for Rupp as a Ranger.

if they got Palmieri on waivers would he not have to be on the Rangers? by having him clear down to the AHL then dealing for him it gives CT depth. So they couldnt just pick him up and assign him to CT.

Its a depth move and helps CT now which is what they need. when Cally is back someone else is going down like Mashinter

they dont need a freaking good on the ice, they can handle teams without a bum hindering them.Asham can fight if needed most nights. Bickel if they really have to play him to goon it up.

Flyers fan here,

Haven't watched much of Powe in MIN, but if he is still the same player you guys will like him. Fast, hits hard, strong shot, can PK.

Gaborik-Richards-Nash
Hagelin-Stepan-Pyatt (if it keeps working)
Kreider-Boyle-Callahan
Powe-Halpern-Asham

I'm pretty sure Powe and Asham played on a line together a good bit when they were both in Philly

Dont like what I've read about Palmieri but Powe is a good addition to bottom 6.

Well done Slats. Not sure what Wild are thinking.

Asham can not handle Rupps duties..He cant fight Orr or Boulton..I cant wait for Slats to trade for another Heavy so this forum emplodes...Maybe the Manshinter will come in and make a huge impact? That would be nice.

The Rupp moment that stands out to me the most is him on SiriusXM trying to rationalize how much of a hardship it is to be a professional athlete, making millions, and how we fans just don't understand their hardship.

I'm glad this slow, stone hands piece of garbage of a hockey player is off this roster.

One good game in one and a half years.

See ya!

Powe is sure to be an instant upgrade in every facet of the game other then punching a face real hard once a week maybe.

I agree. Though I don't think it's necessary for someone to fight Orr or Boulton. What would happen if Orr or Boulton went un-fought?

Maybe I'm a noob but, I'm a little skeptical about Cally being a 3rd liner when he returns
I don't think Callahan will play on the 3rd line either. But you're still a noob.

Yea but what are the odds Boulton or Orr try to bait anyone who isn't a "heavyweight" into a fight? Those are all staged opening face off fights anyway.
