Now my plan for the coaching situation can take shape

I will go out on a limb and say AV is fired at some point in the upcoming season

Ruff takes over. Pesan becomes Hartford coach next year. Shestyorkin comes over when his contract is up

Fire Ruff when Shestyorkin comes over, and promote Pesan to head coach
 
I'm eagerly awaiting for when the Larry Brooks article drops a few hours after a string of losses about how there is a rift among the coaching staff.

How did u come to that conclusion?
As much I really want a new coach, but AV will more likely coach here until end of next season. :nod: It depends how we are doing in the league in end of March month next year! :)

honestly, this sounds spot on. AV's seat is very warm. I think once he ****s up with some of the young guys he's gone.

Gorton is giving AV a LOT of rope. AV will inevitably hang himself with it...

Yeah one doesn't have to think too deeply about the moves and comments JG has made to see that AV isn't exactly safe.

AV played G over Smith in the playoffs... JG buys out G and re-signs Smith to a decent deal.

AV squandered Yandle on the 3rd pair... JG signs a top PMD to a 4 year deal and trades Step for a developing PMD.

Can't find it this second but I'm fairly sure JG said outright that where exactly Shatty plays is up to AV but he didn't sign Shattenkirk to play on the third pair.

My main fear is that they see Ruff as the next long-term coach. I don't think that'd be a wise move, but I wouldn't mind him as someone to come in after AV, light a fire and maybe push the guys a bit before the long-term solution comes the following year.
 
In the Buffalo years Ruff was one of my fav coaches. Seems to have lost some steam since. Dallas on paper looked really good. On the ice was another story.

NHL network touched on it today. Not much to say other then Weeks commenting he can help the PP.
 
Can we changed the title to confirmed? I like Ruff as a coach. You can never have to much knowledge behind the bench. I just hope they don't butt heads. I could see this working out great.
 
Scott Arniel brought up Lindy Ruff as a possibility. AV and Gorton discussed it. AV and Ruff met in June. Ruff is here.
 
Having 3 guys behind the bench with a combined amount of 2,750 head coaching games under their belt and 2 Jack Adams isn't a bad thing if you ask me.
