Wilson is a coward. Lets look at his actions:

Punch to the back of buch's head as he's pinned face first to the ice by Wilson's teammate= cowardly

Third man in rabbit punching strome as strome is pinned down by Wilson's teammate= cowardly

Hair pulling into a slew foot of a helmetless player half your size= cowardly

Mocking the other team from the box after you were hair pulling like a little girl= cowardly.

Sorry to say this but Mcsorley his ass.

I'm still not so sure the Rangers get an enormous fine. They'll get something, but right now a lot of people are filled with total indignation caused by the league's inaction, and I think the league is well aware. Castigating the Rangers with a huge fine and blistering press release would only serve to further inflame the situation and to keep it in the news, which is the last thing the league wants at this point.
Let's see just how tone deaf they are...

I’m expecting Gary to step in here and do something with Wilson

The Rangers will get a stern talking to and a fine about their statement but unless you’re a Caps fan or an idiot, they’re dead on with what they said.

It’s bad publicity for the league that had a string of recent good pub with the TV deal

Clearly the league believes this to be a run of the mill scrum, like Laviolette did, and will therefore come down HARD on the Rangers. If every scrum leads to team's calling out Parros then it'll be a fiasco. The issue is that this was not a run of the mill scrum and the penalty was miniscule compared to the action, making the Rangers feel it necessary to respond.

The NHL is the only league that protects it's goons (yes I know Tom Wilson can play hockey) over it's superstars and then people wonder why it's not more popular.

i rather have Andres Lee lol. Rangers need grit in the top 6. too much finesse is an issue here too. enough of the goons. give me a power forward that makes the team harder to play against.

Id rather have Lee too! Was back to scoring goals when he blew out his knee.

This is the perfect storm. The league having no fighters left so Wilson is unchecked. Rebuilding young team with skill and speed but no size and grit. Wilson growing his history for years. It had to be Panarin that got hurt. Biggest team in the league. Cavalier owner with money. Free money from Seattle just deposited. Bruins owners Jacobs family with more say at the table than anyone else also lost Carlo to Wilson, still concussed. Fans and writers all upset. The league recently bent their rules to find a way to suspend Wilson. Former goon as the head of DoPS with a line of clothes for "make hockey violent again". College coach with no appetite or pedigree for toughness and scrums who couldn't control DeAngelo and couldn't find a way to utilize Lemieux (not assigning blame, just the reality). Trouba, Lindgren, Kreider all injured. Smitty has 3 games left on his contract. Geertsen is not even an NHL player and shouldn't be called upon to do this. JD didn't have a choice.

They built this team, hired this coach that left no one out there to defend themselves so Panarin had to jump on Wilson (even if it's the power play). A nationally televised game of a back to back set. The Rangers players are put into a bad position. They have to do something and defend themselves or they will put a target on their own backs for eternity as a p***y team. The players will feel horrible about themselves and lose respect in themselves and each other if they don't step up. So now every kid from Kakko to Kravstov is going to have to prepare to get hurt or answer the bell if things get out of control. If JD didn't do this, how will the players feel that they iced this team, buying out staal, lundqvist, letting fast walk, losing the only two maniacs on the team in lemieux and Tony, and didn't step up and call the league out?

What a dumb league. Bettman had to step in to suspend Carlo when Parros didn't want to. Bettman didn't step in this time. If Parros wanted to let Wilson off the hook for that hit on Carlo that left him concussed and reaching for his head immediately, then it's clear he had no interest to punish Wilson here either. This is on Bettman. He had an underling that failed to do his job that the commissioner had to step in. He should have made changes then. He didn't and took on the responsibility to covering for Parros' mistakes and he didn't do that here.

I miss the 80s/90s. Next season rangers would be sporting odjick and mcsorley, and Tom wilson would be quiet as a mouse again nyr.

So it was all a ruse playing the victim to push for real, substantive policy changes by the league. Bravo. Great job, soft organization.

Crosby almost ended up on a Canadian quarter for premature celebration of his shortened career and McDavid had his clavicle broken by I literally don't remember who it was anymore. Now Wilson takes out two top flight players on the two biggest US teams in less than 3 months. It's mind boggling.

A former goon, Parros was selected to oversee player safety. Irony.

The lack of an NHL response to the the Rangers statement is very telling IMO. I really believe the Rangers statement was intended to put the league in a box. The DoPS only issued a statement regarding Buchnevich. They did not even address the Panarin and Wilson incident, maybe just hoping it would go away. Now, that the Rangers have called them out on it they are forcing the leagues hand to respond publicly on the record. If they fine the Rangers and state that they support Parros and condone Wilson's actions as part of a normal hockey play that opens the floodgates for any player to take liberties with a star player after the whistle. Really curious to see how the NHL is going to respond.

While I'm thrilled the Rangers put the NHL on blast (If I would really even call it that), but much respect for putting something out there.

As far as answering the call, Wilson is a pu$$y and will turtle unless its a smaller foe (since he is chicken shit).

While I want blood, its not really the answer. What I do want is for us to play physical against their superstars. We need to send a message, you touch our superstar, we can do the same. Pound them.

Wilson tried to hurt the Rangers best player and then gloated about it. He needs his ass stomped. Everything else, the statements, the tweets, the back and forth with the league is just theater. This needs to be settled on the ice tonight.

this team won't defend themselves. they really don't care or they would have done something when Wilson was back in the game on Monday

My guess is they issue a statement saying something like, "We understand the Rangers' frustration that one of their star players was injured in a scrum after the play. The DoPS reviewed the incident and determined a fine was warranted, and we stand behind George Parros and the rest of the department. There are avenues for teams to express their displeasure with certain matters and press releases are not the appropriate venue, and as such we will not be commenting on the matter further." Then they discreetly issue an undisclosed fine to the organization (i.e., not publicly announcing it or disclosing a figure) and move on.

Maybe in the off-season you see Parros "step down" and "assume a different role" while the NHL "examines the processes in place to review incidents at the DoPS" and they make some minor changes. That's about how I see it playing out. The NHL does not want to make this demonstrably worse, but also won't just ignore it for fear of setting that precedent that the teams can openly challenge the league when they feel like it.

JMO. I could also be completely wrong.

you know if we try anything which we don't have that tough mentality, Wilson will try to take out Kakko, Fox or Lafy. maybe step on Shesterkin's hand while covering the puck

This is true deterrence, not challenging a psycho to a fight.

This team has no one capable of stepping up except for Smith. You can't expect guys to do something they've never done. Why? So they get hurt too? They have two guys down in Hartford who I'm sure would love nothing more than to make a name for themselves at the expense of a guy like Wilson. This is on Gorton to fix.
