Have to move Holden now before AV pairs him with McDonagh

Buying out Girardi and then signing the guy that "got lost on the bench" in favor of him to that money is pretty much Gorton telling AV that he's a moron. Don't really understand why they re-signed him in that case, but at least they recognize the stupidity...

You've got Ranger goggles on.

He's not worth 6.65 for any year unless he magically learns to play defense, and we are still on the outside looking in for the playoffs. So between Smith and Shattenkirk we've spent 11M per year on these two who were exactly what we didn't need.

The only thing about this that isn't terrible is that its only four years, but this team is gonna be mediocre the next few years.

We get it. You want to pack it in and suck for the next 2-3 years in hopes we turn out as good as we've been the last several years.

But the fact is, this is a good deal for us and will help us. Everyone said 7x7 would be what it takes to get it done. Instead it's 4x6.65 and he'll be 32 on his next contract.

Quite possibly the worst analysis ever posted on this forum.

Putting any of our opinions on the player aside, teams were willing to pay him 7 million over 6-7 years. He's a sought after player. It's not a bad contract

Okay cool, so thats your opinion on the Staal contract and the previous Girardi contract? Since teams were willing to pay it, its an okay contract?

Funny, I've been reading your analysis about this and laughing at it. You wanted to give a PP specialist as much money as he wanted.

Get back to me at the end of the season. I'm sure you'll be referencing corsi charts when this team misses the playoffs.

Four Dmen that can actually handle the puck and get it out of the defensive zone, hopefully getting the bulk of the minutes on D...pinch me.

Shattenkirk better be paired with McDonagh. If I see some Staal-McD ******** pairing I will lose my mind

Having Shattenkirk on PP1 and DeAngelo on PP2 makes me a happy camper

It's unlikely Shattenkirk will decline severely enough in 4 years for it to turn into a bad contract.

Girardi and Staal had/have a few years remaining on their deals at the same age Shattenkirk will be at contract end.
