Required to be signed for 2021/22 in order to be exposed?

that only applies to the 2 forwards and 1 d that you have to expose....now blackwell, rooney, howden and gauthier qualify to cover those 2 spots to give us options. But he would have to be protected or could be claimed without a contract...otherwise teams would just hold off on signing players

Why blackwell? Hes what we need in the bottom 6. Expose rooney and howden and ada and call it a day
Agreed. If we can sign a center to replace Rooney on the 4th line Rooney and howden should be the ones.
Get Bellemare especially if gallant likes him and there you go

Blackwell is replaceable. Do not let his hot streak cloud your judgement. He has been a borderline NHLer his whole career. Would I mind having him next year? No. But he is 27 years old and I would absolutely prefer keeping and developing Gauthier.

Expose Howden and Gauthier.

Blackwell and Rooney are both better and IMO possess more value than the other two. Rooney has some backbone, provided solid production, etc. Replacing him at his current cost might not be so easy.

Howden is garbage and I see no room for Gauthier who is still living on unfulfilled potential.

I like Rooney, but I wouldnt mind if Seattle took him if we replaced him with someone like Bellemare, sure he's older, but sign Bellemare for 2 years and let Barron develop.

I'd keep the upside of Gauthier over either Rooney or Blackwell. especially with Gallant (see Tuch). . Do I expect him to be Tuch? no, but he has upside.

Blackwell may have some value. Make a deal with Seattle. We trade you Blackwell if you take ADA.

My guess, this opens up the option for the Rangers to possibly move several forwards who meet the exposure requirements, as long as they keep at least two who meet it. Does not necessarily mean trade imminent, more just in case.

so if they trade 2 of the 4 F's who meet the quota, the other 2 get exposed -
they then protect Ronning or Gettinger?

we will be exposing 3 of those 4, we can protect 7 forward. Panarin, Mika, Kreider, Buch, Strome and Chytil are locks to be protected. that leaves 1 spot to protect someone else.

We can only protect one of Howden, Rooney, Gauthier or Blackwell.

Zib, Panarin, Chytil, Strome, Kreider, Buchnevich. That's 6, unless one of them is getting traded between now and tomorrow at 3 pm.

Chytil's not going to hit any sort of upper bound until he gets massively better with his vision and playmaking. His technical passing ability is fine but there's something off there most centers are just inherently better with. I do think he's a pretty high floor guy though and that has a lot of value as a middle six center. He'd look a lot better if the his middle-six center counterpart was a bit more a Gritty McGrit than Strome is though.

I still think the very best version of him is a winger.
