No one's mentioned Martin St. Louis--an undrafted player out of Vermont U.

There are some very good undrafted players around the league.

Among the best from the Colleges: Curtis Glencross, Dan Boyle, Torey Krug, Dekeyser, Andy Greene, St. Louis, Chris Kunitz, Teddy Purcell, Tyler Bozak.

Among OHL undrafted players-Dan Girardi, Mark Giordano, Andrew Desjardins, David Clarkson, Joel Ward.

WHL undrafted players include-Brendon Dillon, Cody McLeod, Josh Gorges, Tyler Johnson, David Schlemko and of course Colton Orr.

QMJHL undrafted players include-Antoine Roussel, Zybnek Michalek, Pascal Dupuis, David Desharnais, Alexandre Burrows and Francis Bouillon.

And European undrafted players include numerous goaltenders--Antti Niemi, Jonas Hiller, Sergei Bobrovsky, Niklas Backstrom, Antti Raanta, Viktor Fasth, Jonas Gustavsson, Eddie Lack + Mats Zuccarello, Damian Brunner and Ville Leino.

check my post and link.

the hint was that he was an ECAC kid as well.

I got a kick out of this.

I just saw a picture of Ryan Haggerty has a squirt in a Stamford CT league where teams are named after NHL teams and wear jersey's of those teams.

Haggerty = New York Rangers Jersey

AWESOME

im excited for this kid. hes got good tools.

low risk play here. he comes from the usndp so its not like the kid doesnt have solid credentials.

rpi isnt a school that puts out tons of players.

a few i know

matt murley- ex syracuse stars kid :handclap:
daren puppa
adam oates
joe juneau

D'Amigo went there as well. He's considered a good player.

Brandon Pirri was recently traded from Chicago to Florida. He along with D'Amigo played one year at RPI. Besides for the three mentioned in the first post which I am quoting, Brian Pothier and Mike McPhee are the only two to have fairly lengthy NHL careers. There have been many others from a couple of games to few seasons. Ken Hammond is the only one who ever played for the NY Rangers and that was for a few games only.

any idea where these UFA would be ranked if they were drafted?

Girardi im guessing 1st or 2ed round pick

Zuccarello 2-4th round

Cam Talbot 3-5th round

what is your take on this??

Zuccarello would've been in the 2005 draft, and would've gone in the 1st if it was re-done today.

My buddy from RPI edited this and all it's all the home goals

Idk if it worked... I am on my mobile

....and I was just saying how I really, really try not to get worked up about prospects...sheeesh what a shot. Wrister, slapper, back hand. It will be interesting to see if he makes it into a game.

Adam Oats, Darren Puppa, Joe Juneau all played at RPI.

Does he remind you of another #39 in blue ?

I hope the kid is eventually moved to Center.

just to make sure i'm not confused here...you watched a video of haggerty where he doesn't make a single pass and immediately thought he looks like doug weight and should be moved to center?

I don't understand the question as it's been presented.

I think he is saying if these guys were actually drafted, what are the chances they would have been drafted otherwise out of a specific round...

i'd say his guesses were accurate

That shot is just .... I don't know ... I can't remember the last time I was this astonished with someones shot.

A lot of those goals basically doing what Ovechkin does with the Capitals. He finds a nice seam by the face-off circle and one times a lot of shots. There is velocity and accuracy. The caveat is that is against college opposition--not NHL opposition.

Even so I'm very much looking forward to seeing him on the ice in a Rangers jersey.

If they were drafted today, or during their draft years? Girardi entered and went undrafted. Obviously he'd go in the 1st today. So would Zucc.

Even today, first rounders are not necessarily sure-fire bets.

After the game-breakers, you'd absolutely go with the guarentee of Girardi or Zucc.

Cam would probably even go as a late 1st early 2nd.

Regardless, it's not a realistic question.

Also, in regards to Haggerty, his shot is really good, but his wrister takes a while to get off. He'll have to change that in the NHL. THere's no way he's going to be allotted the amount of time and space he's accustomed to in the NCAA. I hope this kid can get it together at the big leagues though. He's got a great frame and a powerful shot. Could be a huge help on the PP and down our midget sized wing.

If he develops well, it would be great to have him and Kreider on the second line wing for the next decade. Two huge bodies with very good shots and powerful forechecks. Would be a nightmare to play against.

Would give us more flexibility too in what is really becoming an expensive RW position on this team with Nash, MSL and Zucc (who deservedly will get paid this off-season).

I see a shot like that from the circles, stick already wound up, and I think Kovalchuk or OV. What a shot!

There was also a goalie drafted by St Louis, forgot his name. All these kids mention play with my nephew. If Pirri and D'Amigo stayed for another year, it would've been a great team. Might've went far in the NCAA tournament.

Well, I can see our expectations on this board are conservative.

I'm just commenting on the shot. I can't remark on his hockey sense, positioning, adaptability or passing skills -- or whether he can put it all together.

Regardless, you're talking about two of the best shots in the game today, if not, history. This kid was a college player all but a week ago.

He has a LONG way to go before he should ever be mentioned in the same breath as those guys, even if we're talking about visor cleaning, let alone a skill-set such as a shot.

Haggerty's shot looks great, sure, but the NCAA is not near the NHL. Remember Matt Gilroy?

I watched more than a video, I've seen him play a few dozen games. And yes, I think he has a few of Weights attributes, though they are not exactly the same player. Weight wasn't known for a rocket like this kid has, but they are similar skaters and convert to offense on a dime. They both are the same size and have strong legs, similar lateral skating. Like I said earlier, I like his potential at Center and I'd give him a look there eventually.

The NCAA is a lot closer to the NHL than the Canadian Juniors are.

But who translates their success depends on the kind of player... the better skater you are the better chance you have. McDonagh and Smith were a pairing in Wisconsin, Smith was considered the better of the two in college but now not a single sane individual would take him over McDonagh.

Eh, he should be a wing. That's a shot that thrives on the wing, man.
