Like I said, this was pretty much a slam dunk to me.

RH shot on the PP, but now that he signs here you know his game is going south quick ;)

This is also a likely sign that Stralman may have been looking for north of $4.5, or more years than we were willing to give.

I think if Stralman was willing to sign the same deal, we would have given it to him.

This is a good deal. Reasonable contract. Right handed shot. Still very good offensively. Gives us a righty on the point on the PP with McD. Now McD won't outscore the whole defense on his own. And if you're a stats only guy he has put up great corsis the last two years.

hes clearly a player thats big on the decline. however we have klein that we can give defensive zone starts. give boyle PP time and ozone starts and hope for around 35 points.

3rd pairing defender at this point. Not much left in the tank. Our D is not going to be as solid as this year. No idea where they're going to put him.

Disgusting. I'm almost ashamed to be a Ranger fan right now. A guy who gave his all for us for 3 years and helped us to an ECF and SCF we refuse to pay market value, but we overpay a mercenary who's got 1 foot in the grave

**** YOU SATHER

It could definitely be worse. Really just a stopgap until one of the young kids is ready.

At least we didn't trade for him during the season giving up assets

The term is important I suppose. I'd rather Stralman for $4 mil for 4 years than Dan Boyle 2 years for $4.5--but if we're going Stralman $4.5 for 6--I'd rather Boyle and Stralman's likely going to make more than that if Pouliot can get $4 mil per.

As much as I really, really didn't want this to happen, I'm trying to think of some possible positive outcomes here.

D wise, he'll likely be with Staal, who is about as steady as they come. Maybe he'll run wild a bit with a solid partner like that.

On O, he wasn't great on the PP next year, but it's a different team, a different system. The PP setup is pretty nice with McD, MSL, Nash, Kreider, Step around. Maybe he can help them.

Again, I don't like this much at all, just trying to think of some decent possible outcomes.

I seriously hope Stralman gets well north of 5.5 million, otherwise I'll be pissed.
