It's cool because all these moves also has to reflect on AV, and not Torts.

If we were to sign someone who has average offensive potential on the B6, we can assume 5G7A with Torts. Might be different with AV

The Lightning are complete imbeciles with no clue. The contract they gave Flippula was one of the dumbest in NHL history.

This is why i never post anything on the Rangers boards. Some of you are whiny little hypocrites.

"Omg our bottom 6 sucks, barely Ahl material..."

Sather signs 2 really good bottom 6ers to really good deals. Nashville Signed Nystrom longterm to 2.5 per, oilers Signed Gordon to 3 mill per year.

Now when we've improved our bottom 6 all i hear is people crying like ignorant little *****es.

We need to resign a lot of high valued RFA'S and our bottom 6 needed help. What did you expect? Horton + Weiss?

Agree. The moves are definitely reflective of Vigneault.

Vigneault uses his defensive forwards to start shifts in the defensive zone. Moore is going to take majority of the defensive zone faceoffs.

Pouliot is a depth guy, but a depth guy with skill, speed, and upside. Unlike years past when we probably would have signed a depth guy with more "jam" to appease Tortorella.

Pouliot - Richards - Callahan
Boyle - Moore - Dorsett

that is a really good bottom 6

Agree once cally and hags return. Meanwhile some youngsters will get looks. I like the idea of Haley as 13 or 14 depending on what happens with Pyatt. Good signings all around, right prices - gives us opportunity to lock up RFAs and perhaps trade a D for a top 6 F. Only wish one of the recent D signings was RH shot. Sather has "gone through the process and showed some free agent jam".

Looks like aftet all is said and done we'll enter season with 1.5-2.5 in open cap. The only issue is that we would open with about 48 contracts, 46-47 would be nice. I smell Gorton all over this direction thank god.

Losing Boyle would be another step in the wrong direction, a heart and soul player something the Rangers have still yet to replace from two seasons ago.

Agreed. I am not the biggest Boyle fan, but he's generally a good teammate and locker room presence, and he shows up in the playoffs. Unless he gets badly outplayed by some of the prospects, I think he'll stick around.

And good point about the heart and soul players. I think Miller will be one of those guys eventually, but these type of players aren't as easy to find as everyone thinks, and those that are available tend to get massively overpaid as we saw yesterday. It's good to have some "glue" players sprinkled throughout the lineup.

The Rangers don't have heart and soul players? Reaching for reasons to keep mediocre players.

Boyle is expendable. Moore wasn't signed to play the wing. He's taking Boyle's spot. Boyle is overpaid to be a bottom line winger with no offense and average-at-best skating. His strength is in the middle. Taking faceoffs and killing penalties. Moore will be taking defensive zone faceoffs.

Boyle is a Tortorella guy. And in case we haven't noticed, Tortorella guys are on the outs. Powe and Asham waived. Pouliot and Moore brought in.

I like the moves this off season except for keeping Richard because I think there is to much risk with that. I do think richie will have a slightly better year though with AV.
I also can maybe see Boyle being sent to Vancouver for a Third rounder.

Lol, what happens to Asham and Powe has nothing to do with Boyle.

Boyle makes perfect sense to keep as a 4th line wing/center.

id love if that was to happen...

He'd help a lot with the power play and also with our top 6 depth. All this talk about bottom 6 depth, we need some top 6 depth too.

edit: is anyone else getting really frustrated with this ace hardware ad that keeps scrolling down half way through the screen and playing w volume (also sometimes impossible to x out of)???

YES!!! It's horrendous

I don't know how I feel about this. I was hoping the Rangers would open up some room for their young guys like Fast, Lindberg and Hrivik.

Maybe Moore and Pouliot are stop gaps for the young guns. I guess depth can't hurt, but there is such a log jam of players now.

Open room for them??

They need to EARN their spot. There is no free pass. They are all rookies. Let them either earn it in camp or play well enough int he AHL for a callup.

Pouliot is not even some old guy, hes 26. He played great last season for Tampa. Let some kid beat him out if hes better, if not, develop in the AHL.

Yeah, Boyle won't be around too much longer.

...people have been saying that for some time now, but who knows you could be right. The Rangers did a nice job of repairing their bottom six yesterday. At least on paper. My guess is Boyle sticks around for a while.

Boyle will be missed by everyone who is trying to give him away.

I just don't get it. We sign depth and people want to dump a guy who IS an nhl player.

You can say what you want about Powe or Asham, but we are a better team with Boyle than we are dumping him for a draft pick.

What if Moore gets hurt? Oh look theres a hole, goodbye depth.

people don't realize they hate the way boyle was used under torts.

He is a heart and soul player and if he plays his role will be very effective.

Torts used him too much, was def. one of his favorite players... but lets see how this new coach uses him.

4th line and 1 st unit PK

EDIT; Rangers organization loves Boyle, He isn't going any where unless it is a huge upgrade.

Yeah it's downright embarrassing at times.

Boyle is also making a bit of money even though he's projected to be on the fourth line and we need the cap space. Plus, I really want to see what Haley can do on the fourth line with Dorsett and Moore.

What's nice about Boyle is that he can also contribute in the faceoff circle. He's a great player/contributor on the 4th line at 10 min a game but definitely not at the 20 Torts would give him.

Never mind he is one of few stepping up in the play off. He also is a good hitter, not fighter, hitter. And while he probably will never hit 20 goals again, his production might increase in a more offensive minded system.
