Also, it’s not really feasible to get a PCR test turnaround in 72 hours. My place has been doing 1-2 days but what happens if it comes back day of and it’s positive? What happens if it doesn’t come back at all?

It's not clear if they mean the result itself came back in the 72 hour window or if the test itself was administered in the 72 hour window.

The latter obviously makes more sense but my knowledge is PCR tests can take up to a week to come back.

this is what makes it difficult.....do i get a test a week before? what happens if it only takes 3 days? then i have to take another one?

this seems rushed and could be a nightmare

The way I see it, there's 3 options:

1. NY has to expand the 72 hour window to beyond just that because if you have to take the test within a 72 hour window, there's going to be a lot of people that don't get results back in time. And expanding the window kind of defeats the purpose of testing before the game.

2. They amend it to include rapid tests within the 72 hour window which alleviates concern about tests coming back but is less reliable. MSG actually rapid tests anyone coming into the building presently.

3. MSG partners with some lab or testing sites that ensure results are turned around within the 72 hour window.

Has anyone spoken to their reps yet about how they'll divide up the tickets?

Apparently the Rangers had no idea this announcement was coming today from what I heard so no word as far as I know. I imagine they'll do lottos for the opportunity to purchase tickets like other teams.

I would imagine the testing regulations would be similar to what the State of Hawaii implemented, which requires a negative NAAT test within 72 hours prior to arrival in Hawaii, in order to bypass a 10-day quarantine.

No negative test result, no admittance. These types of tests are available from CVS and other providers and results can be typically returned within 2-3 days of taking the test.

Just received this.

We want to thank Governor Cuomo for allowing us to move forward with welcoming fans back to MSG. We intend to host roughly 2,000 fans at every game, beginning with the February 23 Knicks game against the Warriors and the February 26 Rangers game against the Bruins. Health and safety remain our top priority, and we will be working closely with state and health officials to implement the strongest operating protocols. We know our fans are anxious to return and we can’t wait to see them at The Garden once again.

We will provide our Season Ticket Members with priority access to available tickets, either through your existing account credit or purchase.

We will follow up with additional information as more details are confirmed.

What about if you got the vaccine? Do you have to still take the test? So many questions, so few answers.

Can't you still spread the virus even if you're vaccinated ? Under that train of thought i imagine everyone no matter what will have to be tested.

Wonder if MSG sets something up like the Bills had where fans have to pay the team for the test and it goes through them. That would at least make it easier.

News 4 just reported on the Nets plans - testing only through their approved lab 72 hours in advance, plus a rapid test at the door on game day. $200 testing cost paid by each fan in addition to the cost of the game ticket - yikes!

Was that on the news or on their website? That's brutal if so. Bills charged I think $60 or $70.

See you next season MSG, if that's the plan lol.

That's pretty f***ing brutal if you have to pay $200 and then find out you're positive and can't even go to the game lmao

Is it possible to get like a receipt for reimbursement to your insurance company at least since they're covering all costs related to testing? So many questions.

Oof, you know MSG isn’t going to be cheap if they implement this system. Teams have lost lots of money this is a perfect way to get something back. Yeesh.

Doubtful. Here's Blue Cross Blue Shield for example:

COVID-19 - Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey

Regardless of where diagnostic testing is performed — in a health care setting or pharmacy, at a drive-up testing site or through a home test kit — testing must be ordered by a health care professional.
Any test for population screening (for example, back to school or return-to-work purposes) is not covered.
