I know everyone is thinking about cap implications, and how Hank will progress/regress over the next seven years...but count me as one person who isn't thinking about any of that right now, but is just giddy with happiness that perhaps the greatest goalie in our history will (most likely) play with the Rangers for the rest of his career. Can't wipe the smile off my face if I tried.

I agree. I'm excited too, not too worried about the money. Management knows the team better than we do so i trust them with Hanks contract

I appreciate everything Hank has done but this new contract is ridiculous. He should have gotten 4 years max at maybe 6-7 mil per. Even if they would have kept it 8 mil which I dont like no way in hell should they have given him a contract this long, especially when he is having his worst season in a while.

I'm gonna put myself in a time capsule somebody come get me when Sather is gone.

I am sure it's been reported, but sounded on Hank like he got a NTC for the full contract.

I wanna add one thing though. Hank said this in relation to the NTC "if I am going to get traded, it will be a joint decision between me and the club".

Many thinks a player with a NTC cannot be traded. It just gives the player a veto.

That's wonderful… except 25 teams in the NHL would match that if he went UFA, and 20 teams would far surpass it.

You could always gamble on Talbot, and maybe sign Nabokov next year… helloooo 8th seed.

Sounds like you've already been in that time capsule. In what world would a 30 year old elite player take a deal like that?

AAV of Hank's deal right now is 6.875, why is he taking a dime less in the prime of his career when he's a UFA?

Which 31 year old star player has ever taken a four year UFA deal?

The he should take that up with his agent who let the Kings tack on the dummy years which were legal back then. They're not legal anymore. So why even compare them?
I agree, there's little sense in comparing them. If you're going to compare Lundqvist's contract to Quick's it's best just to compare the first seven years. Though Quick did make a mild concession outside those years to make it more team-friendly.

I'm glad that management has inspired that much blind faith out of you.

Also, I don't get people worrying based on hypothetical baseless speculation.

Why 4 years? Why only 5 years? 6 years? Could work both ways. You guys got a Chrystal ball I don't?

Hank was going to get paid based on the job he done for us. The cap is going to sky rocket, he took the same money the best players are making now. Richards will make how many more millions his first 5 years than Hank? 10m more than Hank?

Real money handed out to players under the old CBA has been much higher than AAVs. The best players weren't going to take big pay cuts under the new CBA.

Lets hope the Rangers get on a playoff run and in the Cup while we have the King in his prime!

Rask is so unbelievably overrated that its becoming comical.

Rask is a good goalie but i would love to see the numbers Hank could put up with Chara defending the zone. Still was bummed when Z signed with Boston. One UFA I really wanted the Rangers to sign. I know some people thought it was high but $7.5M was the right value for him.

Chara is overrated. Redden has the best first pass in the league.

Wherever I'm standing atm
In a thread full of ridiculous statements, flat out fallacies, hyperbole and a complete lack of gratitude... I applaud you for being an island.

Thanks! But I can't take full credit as I know that many on here realize what I was saying and many have expressed those sentiments. Hank kept this team afloat. Sather and the FA signings kept us anchored in place. They were FA signings we made while Hank took up a larger percentage of the cap.If we had Kovalchuk instead of let's say drury or redden I'd like to think the devs don't even make the ECF and we could have done it.

I don't think we got a hometown discount on Hank. He got exactly what his open market rate would have been. He just got it with the team he wanted.
