He has Zborovskiy-like upside, clearly.

There's a saying in Russian for this situation that goes something like this: "Get a sore on your tongue".

This is what you deserve for saying this  (and not even adding a sarcastic smilie)

For what it's worth, Zborovskiy signed with Sochi, which is kinda coincidental (Rykov). I guess Sochi doesn't recognize his quality, either, however, as he's been sent to the VHL instead.

Barron played top 6 LW last year with Yates(C ) and Cam Donaldson (RW) another freshman. The freshmen centers really seemed to step up later in the year but the top 6 Cs are gone. That's the big worry whether the young guys will. Our wing depth is exceptional this year including Barron. He can slot in with any of Jeff Malott, Vanderlaan, or Donaldson and be effective. I thing Malott and his game is a bit too similar to Barron for Schafer's taste though. (He likes a shifty playmaker, a shooter, and a PWF for his top 6). I'd like to see him with Vanderlaan since he's probably the best playmaker on the team. Max Andreev is the wildcard for this team. He could be dynamic for us and shake up the lines.

Most likely Barron will be all situations with how young the forward corps is. Top 6 PP1 PK2/3. I think 22-27 points is acheivable for him. He dominated the non-conference schedule, which is tougher this year. The key for him will be maintaining that production through the rest of the season. Anthony Angello carried the team in January because Barron and his line disappeared. He needs to stay consistent through the season.

Also to note, anyone with an ESPN+ sub can watch any of Barron's home games and all league games except RPI (which is free) on that.

Clearly it was actually Regina that ruined his development...

Anyone recognize the guy next to Jesse Ylonen (in the bottom chart)?

Point production has been bad with limited usage, but good to see that underlying stats are solid

Prospect Report: 10.8.18

K'Andre Miller had an assist and was a plus-1 in Wisconsin's exhibition game against U. of Victoria.

Tyler Wall had 24 saves on 27 shots for UMass-Lowell in their exhibition game against Acadia. He earned the win. Here he is getting lit up, lolol....

The article, also, shows some stats on some of the Euro players and the Hartford team....

"He's sort of like a Cam Fowler-type presence, a guy who has developed into the sort of player you can count on in any situation. I personally haven't coached too many guys who can skate as effortlessly as he does. He can get caught in a bad spot offensively and still manage to recover and you don't see him get beat one-on-one very often." - Barrie Colts Assistant Coach Todd Miller on Joey Keane (Credit: OntarioHockeyLeague.com)

The exerpt on Keane sounds a lot like Ryan McDonagh when he first came up and would even out odd man rushes and end breakaways with his closing speed

Keane has more bite than McDonagh and Fowler, the latter of whom has none.

Not that hes a bruiser or a crease clearer, but he doesn't mind mixing it up.

The initial questions with Keane tended to revolve around whether he would continue to develop. That's always on the radar when a kid makes a big leap forward where one wasn't necessarily expected.

In that regard, he's done exceptionally well thus far.

Now some of that focus comes from physical maturity.

Keane's biggest attribute continues to be his mental game. There's not a lot of tools that necessarily jump off the page, but he's really discovered how to tap into the different areas of his game and deploy them. As he continues to get stronger, it should help to enhance his game a little further.

Not that he's going to be steamrolling people.

Is Malte Stromwall still in any way affiliated with the Rangers? Just curious, as he currently tops the Finnish league in scoring.

Keane is one of the more intriguing of our prospects going forward. Basically a little more experience and physical maturity and IMO he could become for us next year something like Victor Mete became for the Canadiens--a year or two out from his draft season. Keane's a great skater and he's more of a two way guy than a pure offensive D. He does have edge but I don't really think he has the strength right now to back it up--so he is where he should be in the OHL.

Great post!
I agree totally with the Mete comparison. I believe he was a Habs 4th round pick, who made the team out of camp last year, straight from the OHL.

Barron's first game of the year is this Saturday against Laurentian at 7pm if you want to watch. Preseason game because Ivy League, but it should at least give an indication of who he slots in with on the top 6 and if he's getting PK time.

Scouting report: Miller combines NHL-level skating ability with a long reach to be a intriguing pro prospect. Yet consider he has only played two full seasons as a defenseman and you also realize he has a high level of flexibility in his game and an ability to adapt to changes. Those who have worked with him call him highly coachable, even when the assignments aren’t fun. With an ability to play an offensive game from the blue line, expect Miller to get chances on the power play.

19 K’ANDRE MILLER

Pajuniemi was without a point or shot or anything, and he only played 9:49 in a game that went to OT. Second-least in TOI on the team. Unfortunate his season is playing out this way.

Reunanen was scoreless and -3, but did play 22+ again. Also registered 4 shots.

Virta, Rykov, and Lunker are currently playing.

EDIT: Rykov done, 3-2 win, he had no points, played a little over 17 minutes (5th among D).

EDIT: Slovan tied it with an empty cage, then won in OT. Nothing for Virta who only played 12:50. 2 shots to his credit.

EDIT: No points for Lunker either. I mistakenly thought Lulea stormed back to win, but instead they tied and lost. If anyone saw that, disregard.
