Mr. Preachy
We'll see what he does in a full AHL season. He was good with Bridgeport for the short time he was there.
What's the Harvard story? I would have had tempered expectations if we took him. I was very fine with him because I figured he'd be at least a great NHL scorer. Not sure I see that one year later. Not saying he's a bust but looks more like a very good goal scorer in the NHL. More of a middle six guy rather than top line.Wahlstrom has had so many question marks surrounding him in recent years. From the Harvard story, to the disappointing performance for BC... It explains why he dropped on draft day because the concerns were apparently valid.
He was good in Bridgeport from the reports I remember. I'd still be worried a bit right now though if we drafted him. We'll see what he does in a full AHL season. He was good with Bridgeport for the short time he was there.

Because Trevor Zegras should have been in a Rangers jersey, the Oilers are the reason he isnt.
Caulfield looks like one of the owners kids on the podiumBecause Trevor Zegras should have been in a Rangers jersey, the Oilers are the reason he isnt.
Sounds like it was more of the other teams saying no to a trade rather than the Rangers unwillingness to pony upPart of me ended up really disappointed we didn't pop back into the top 8-14 for one of the centers. I'm happy to stick with CK for the time being though, I imagine it was a Kings Ransom to get up there or else we would have.
I have full faith in Gorts and Co so no worries in the long run.
January 9th 2014: Oliver Wahlstrom commits to U. of Maine for the 2018-19 season
August 21st 2015: Oliver Wahlstrom commits to Harvard for the 2018-19 season
May 26th 2018: Oliver Wahlstrom commits to Boston College for the 2018-19 season
Not sure if Mr. Wahlstrom knows what the word "commit" means.
Anyway, the Harvard rejection was rumoured to be because of his grades. It was one of the red flags for Wahlstrom coming into the draft
You’re making a lot out of some pretty minor stuff here. Players change commitments all the time...especially with the recruiting cycle getting earlier. Think about it, he made that first commit when he was 13 (!) years old. And Harvard, even for hockey players is going to have a healthy SAT bar. Failing to get that done doesn’t mean you are “dumb” or can’t be a good hockey player.
Has anyone inquired w/ Stamford Chelsea Piers on accessibility for fans to watch any aspects of this camp? Or better yet, anyone planning on making the trip? PM me if so.
just drive - or get creative and jump off a bus heading to MoheganI wanted to make the trip for the scrimmages but its like 3 hours and 3 trains from Bensonhurst
Wahlstrom was awful in college. When you go that high in the draft and you put up 19 points, it's a concern. On the other hand, reports on Kravtsov were outstanding. He's expected to make an impact next year. Hopefully, he doesn't have the lazy Russian tendencies that got Buchnevich benched a boat load of times by Quinn.
Haven't heard anything about bringing back Zucc. I'm thinking Gorton is hoping he signs with Dallas so he can get another first next year. Zucc doesn't seem like a player that makes young players better like Panarin does. He seems to play well with established vets. Perhaps that is a factor. Kreider, same thing but his net presence is elite and this team badly needs that. A few guys in the league seem to be able to help young players accelerate with their growth.
If they can't get Panarin, I'd like them to sign Lee. One, his loss would badly hurt the Islanders. Two, it would give us another big, net front presence instead of Kreider having to do it all. Always liked Lee's game.
Interesting, I naturally assumed the other way. If that's truly the case I would pretty much expect CK to be gone at deadline. I'd have to assume Gorton is going to find an asset he likes to leverage CK into some value instead of re-signing. I have to think that's closer to his mentality than re-signing him. Even if its only 55/45.Sounds like it was more of the other teams saying no to a trade rather than the Rangers unwillingness to pony up
No, but there were reports about Wahlstrom's lack of effort. I can't remember the exact quote but it had something to do with the Harvard commitment
The lazy Russian thing is a myth. It's a fabrication from arrogant Canadians who think they are better than everyone else.
You realize that the majority of posters on HFNYR are American, right? The vast majority of the time when you see it posted on here, it's an ******* from not Canada.
There are *******s that perpetuate myths, literally everywhere.
