Khodorenko played left wing much of the year. Agree he likely is not blocking anyone. And Richards? Don't see him blocking anyone.

I think they will give Henriksson an opportunity to show if he can play center.

They chose Korczak over Vierling and your not that high on Korczak. I wouldn't be surprised at an ECHL start.

Rempe strikes me as a possible replacement for Ryan Reeves. I like my centers to have more than 6 assists.

While I'm sure the Rangers didn't guarantee Rydahl he makes the team I doubt he leaves the SHL to play in the AHL unless he and they were confident he would be in NY.

Edstrom could be interesting. He wasn't a big scorer in the SHL but he played as a kid in the SHL, mostly down the lineup. I saw him play and he has good speed and some offensive ability and he is big. I could see him getting a chance at center although he could start at wing.

Khodorenko is just okay, I wouldn't let him block anyone.

Henriksson, who knows? He could play well or he could be a big nothing. Also, while the team probably sees him as a center, he has spent the past few years primarily playing wing for Frolunda, so he can do that, too.

Korczak, IDK, he could just as easily be ECHL-level as AHL-level. His offense was underwhelming IMO and he's not very strong.

Rempe is...a guy who is tall. He was 52% on face-offs at age 19 in the WHL which is nothing special, and he only has 6 assists all season, so I'm not sure he sees much time at center. Seems better-suited to wing, if you ask me.

I don't know if they bring Richards back. He showed a lot of positive things in the watered-down, short AHL season, but then last year under normal conditions he was JAG.

Rydahl is interesting.

Vierling, I wouldn't really put him above a Korczak or Henriksson, but he'd at least be interesting to follow for a year or two to see if he can step it up. I don't really think he can but I don't see much to lose, either.

Have never seen Paloksic play and don't have high espectations. But the Rangers have brought in a couple of guys at the AHL level over the past few years who were the best players on bad NCAA teams (think Giutiarri, Berzolla). The Rangers heavily scouted Dartmouth goalie Clay Stevenson, who signed with the Caps so they have seen Paloksic a lot. The - 18 this year looks bad but Dartmouth finished last in the ECAC this year and it would have been worse without Stevenson who kept Dartmouth's season from really cratering. In his freshman year two seasons ago he had 24 points in 31 games and was a plus 2. Let's see if this guy can play at the AHL level.

Windsor and Flint in a very entertaining OT in Game 6, with Flint up 3-2 in the series. Cuylle for the Spits and Othmann for the Firebirds both strutting their stuff. Cuylle just hit the post that could have won it.

Feel bad because either winner will have to face Hamilton in the final.

Knowing the Rangers, they are probably very high on the overage winger Maggio (2003) for Windsor and Flint first-year eligible Gavin Hayes, who's been playing with Othmann and has been crazy physical.

Edit: Windsor wins it. Game 7 on Thursday.

Seattle-Kamloops Game 7 underway. There are a bunch of guys after Korchinski who are playing in this game who should be in the Rangers and STL 2nd-round range, plus Rempe and Garand playing so you know the scouts have been watching.

Gustafson the center and Schaefer the wing for Seattle and the center Minten and winger Seminoff for Kamloops. Plus the playmaker dman Mats Lindgren, who is one of the best skaters among dmen in the draft.

Gustafson is my main target but Minten also is a strong two-way center with more size

Find an NHL backup for next season and let this kid compete for a spot as the backup the next year. A cheap ELC goalie does wonders for this team build moving forward.

Indeed. Let Garand play 55 games in the AHL next year, maybe a callup with injuries to get him a game or two assuming he is doing well in the AHL. Best case he is our backup in 23-24.

even in '23-24, assuming Shesty is healthy, Garand should be playing regularly in AHL,
with a vet backing up in NY. Sitting does him no good.
IF Shesty misses time, Garand can then come up and make many of the starts while Shesty recovers.

My thing with goalies at this point is the team is in win now mode moving forward. Development can still happen at the NHL level, especially with a backup goalie and Benoit Allaire around. 20-25 NHL games after a full AHL season the year before would be more beneficial than another full AHL season.

i get it. And we are seeing very young guys excel, more than ever.
My feeling is that, even at training camp in '23, Garand will still only be a 3 months past turning 21.
Spending that season, as well, racking up AHL minutes, until needed w NYR, makes sense to me.
Allaire and Malcolm, and the other goalie coach guy, are all around for guidance

It's too early to know. Let's see how he does next year.

No real surprise.
Yeah, as time wore on and guys like Korczak, Lindbom, and even Edström got their deals, and Vierling didn't, it seemed pretty clear that it wasn't coming.

Ragnarsson wasn't really a prospect at this point. He's a solid Allsvenskan player and should have a nice career there, but he didn't have an NHL future (and I think he knew this as well when he signed a new contract with his club).

Windsor (Cuylle) @ Hamilton tonight in game 1 of the OHL finals. Hamilton has yet to lose a game in the playoffs. Cuylle is 2nd on the team with 21 points (10g, 11a) in 18 games (Wyatt Johnson with 31). He's a +17 with 24 PIMs and 82 shots on goal. He's 57.1% on faceoffs (64 out of 112).

Seattle (Rempe) @ Edmonton tonight in game 1 of the WHL finals. Rempe has 7 points (5g, 2a) and is -3 with 6 PIMs and 24 shots on goal in 18 games. He's 50.8% on faceoffs (93 out of 183).
