4-3 Final, Othmann 2nd star (goalie was 1st).

Flint now up 3-2. Othmann one win away from the finals.

Othmann 3rd in points in the playoffs, 9G/14A/23P in 17 games.

Othmann will be in the NHL next year. They will fast track him, like Schneider

Schneider was eligible to play in the AHL and spent part of the year there before being called up. Othmann has to go back to the OHL if he isn't in the NHL next year.

Maybe he gets up to 9 games, but I don't think he'll stick. If anything, I think Cuylle will have a better shot of being on the roster at the end of the year.

Seattle (Rempe) beat Kamloops (Garand) last night 2-1. Garand saved 32 of 34 in the loss. Rempe had no points , no PIMs and no shots on goal. He was even and 4 out of 11 on faceoffs.

The series is tied 3-3 with game 7 tomorrow night at Kamloops. The winner goes on to face the Edmonton Oil Kings in the finals.

If Othmann sticks, I believe it won't be more than 39 games for UFA eligibility reasons like the Oilers did with Draisaitl.

I assume we're going to sign Vierling, no?

I wouldn't necessarily assume so. They signed all their other deadline guys, including Lindbom. Vierling had problems his draft year, missed an entire year of development last season, and was pretty mediocre this year. He's a guy who once was really well-regarded but has seen his stock drop precipitously. I've been saying all year I thought there was a real chance he goes unsigned.

We need some center depth in the system and I personally would sign him, but I don't think it would be a surprise if the Rangers didn't.

I doubt it. There's already a logjam at center in Hartford with Brodzinski, Khodorenko, Henriksson, Korczak, Edström, Rempe, Rydahl and possibly Richards who is RFA. Some of them can be moved to the wing but still.
Not only logjam at center but six new forwards going to Hartford next year, Henrikkson, Kordzak, Edstrom, Rempe, Cuylle, Trevigno. You can't just have rookies and first and second year forwards on your team. And if the Rangers sign him he ties up a contract slot for 3 years. I think the Rangers would have signed him if he had a good season but nyr2k2 has continuously called his season mediocre and underwhelming.

Maybe he gets offered an AHL contract but even so he probably spends the year at Jacksonville.

CBA question: if Vierling were signed to AHL deal, would he still be eligible to be (re)drafted?

Yes. He automatically re-enters the draft if not signed by Wednesday and cannot sign an NHL contract until after the draft.

If he goes undrafted again, he can sign an NHL contract with any team.

Khodorenko is just okay, I wouldn't let him block anyone.

Henriksson, who knows? He could play well or he could be a big nothing. Also, while the team probably sees him as a center, he has spent the past few years primarily playing wing for Frolunda, so he can do that, too.

Korczak, IDK, he could just as easily be ECHL-level as AHL-level. His offense was underwhelming IMO and he's not very strong.

Rempe is...a guy who is tall. He was 52% on face-offs at age 19 in the WHL which is nothing special, and he only has 6 assists all season, so I'm not sure he sees much time at center. Seems better-suited to wing, if you ask me.

I don't know if they bring Richards back. He showed a lot of positive things in the watered-down, short AHL season, but then last year under normal conditions he was JAG.

Rydahl is interesting.

Vierling, I wouldn't really put him above a Korczak or Henriksson, but he'd at least be interesting to follow for a year or two to see if he can step it up. I don't really think he can but I don't see much to lose, either.

Big games tonight, Othmann goes for the close out in game 6, and then Garand/Rempe in game 7.

Hoping Garand wins, would be cool to see him face Edmonton, who is 12-1 in the playoffs.

Othmann/Cuylle winner gets Hamilton, who is 12-0 in the playoffs.

That's not a log-jam.

The's the night crew for stocking shelves at the local Stop & Shop
Yup, and outside of Brodzinski they have all of 1.5 seasons of professional NA experience between them (all courtesy of Khodorenko who himself barely got himself to the AHL depth level and not much more). Everyone is a question mark, not a single 1st round pedigree among the group. I’d bet there’ll be 2 experienced signings at C forward for HWP.

I think they are bringing Rydahl over to be the NYR 4C. If he doesn’t make the team and isn’t first call up I wont be surprised if he just goes back to Sweden.

That's possible, but he's on a one-way contract and will make the same in the NHL or AHL. I do think you're right that they hope he makes the NHL team, but I also think there's a good chance he sticks around for the year even if he doesn't make it at first.

Yeah. Saw that one way contract as the NYR telling him “we are so confident you’ll make it that we will pay you an NHL salary even if you don’t.” You’re right though, he might just play in the A for the year if he doesn’t make it.

Yeah, depending on what they do with the bottom six, there may not be immediate space for him. And, he may need some time to acclimate. Hopefully if he doesn't make it immediately he'll at least be willing to stick around long enough for an opportunity to present itself.

I mean, they don't HAVE to let him go home if he wants to, though the Rangers have generally been pretty willing to let guys go back home if they want.
