thanks for taking the time to do this

i have mixed expectations about the Forwards you project as OUT
(especially if NYR continue to have headroom re total contracts)

(1) RE Gettinger, as I had cited re Fontaine last off-season, there is NO precedent for (a) a NYR drafted player who (b) spent his entire ELC in AHL (c) to NOT get QO

(2) Ronning fulfilling his scoring potential this season, maybe earns him a QO, as you noted,. He's maybe as valuable to HWP next season as a AAAA vet or AHL-contracted recruit or vet. And his scoring touch, plus bloodlines, may have some trade value later on

(3) Newell is having increased production from last season, NYR often do reward growth. But he is older. May have trade value especially to MN or CA teams where he has history

Agree with you on Gettinger. He will be qualified. My bad there, thought he had already been qualified once (must've mixed him up with Fontaine). 50/50 on Ronning. 20/80 on Newell.

Agree with your analysis except for Ronning. Having watch all of Hartford's games this year Ronning consistently have been the best of the three (and one of the best if not the best player on the Pack) and is now getting PK as well as PP time. I see his qualification as a no brainer. Gettinger had a lousy first 12 games but has played much better lately including an excellent game this afternoon. He gets qualified. Newell is the least likely to be qualified by a mile. Has not been impactful and already is 25-26. Maybe he gets qualified because you need bodies to play in Hartford and with the college signing season mostly finished maybe there is no one else for whom the team has an interest. Fontaine also is RFA. He hasn't played much in two years because of injuries.

On defense Raddysh can choose to become a UFA. With Schneider and Skinner playing right defense next year there isn't much room for Raddysh. It seems hard for me to believe that he won't look for a better opportunity with another organization or overseas.

Ronning is a bit of a late bloomer and he seemingly needed some more time to catch up at a higher level. It like his attitude and overall approach. He's a very smart kid who takes it one step at a time. Him having Gretzky on speed dial is a cool thing

If Ronning can keep this up, I would not be shocked if he gets a shot next season. He's the same age as Gauthier and Howden (2016 draft). I think he has earned another contract.

I loved how his dad played the game. I’m glad things are going well with Ty. I hope it continues and he gets a shot. I’m rooting for him too

Man Bode Wilde now thats a throwback. I remember the poster Pavel Buchnevich talking about him like he was the second coming of christ

The trick with his posts is to just trust the opposite is true. He called the Lundkvist pick "a waste" because he's never going to be good at anything.

Unironically a great strategy :D

I honestly sometimes wonder if "throw puck and find out" is a good strategy for struggling power play units.

I've seen poor NCAA teams do it a lot on the power play in an umbrella set up, with three guys at the blue line and two fighting for position right in front of the net.

WHL Network

Robertson leads his team with 86 shots in 16 games, which seems... kind of like he's just been told to throw the puck at the net and hope for the best.
Yup, consider last year he averaged 2.8 shots per game and scored 13 goals (13% shooting). This year he's averaging 5.4 shots per game and has seen his shooting percentage plummet to 3.5%. He's at half of last year's shot total in basically a quarter of the games. Second in the entire league, trailing the first place guy by 8, with five games in hand.

If he shot like this last year, over 60 games, he would have led the league. As a defenseman.

I would kill to have that mentality on the Rangers

yep, possibly my favorite Zac Jones moments from last night
wasn't his 2 aggressive effective backchecks,
but his readiness, willingness and ability to throw the puck on net from the blue line.
I am not a guy who yells "shoot" every time an NYR touches the puck on the PP,
but really getting tired of the NYR PP playing keep-away, whiling killing their own PP
