I think if we can find a veteran LD to bridge some of the transition time, and have two of Lindgren, Robertson, Hajek or Rykov fall in line behind, we’ll be all the better for it.

I don’t think that guy has to be a superstar, but I would prefer an upgrade over what Skjei was. That would be my ideal path forward, though obviously it depends on who is available. But if someone like Brodin were to be made available, he’s the type I would move some young pieces to acquire.
According to all the reports before the deadline Brodin and Dumba are both available for a top line center or a second line center and a prospect

I just dont know if i want to use Cap Space there next season,
if Hank, Staal and Smith are still consuming ~$18M of NYR"s,
or even just 18, 42 consuming >$10M

i agree 100%...unless some of those contracts disappear somehow we don't have the space and I think we will need to make due for a year until space clears up if kids don't emerge to fill the roles

Hear this from my Minnesota guy (the same guy who told me Ryan Lindgren would be the next Michael Sauer); "Matthew Robertson was awful his first month back in the Edmonton...since then he has been terrific, outplaying many of the guys drafted in front of him. Will be in NHL soon.
Not that surprising coming off a knee (?) injury

I would 100 percent agree with that assessment.

He also fits exactly what the Rangers were looking for in 2019 draft defensemen - he gets to the puck quickly, gains control, and gets it to someone creative and dangerous who knows what to do with it.

He’s the type who doesn’t always show up on the stat sheet, but often starts the play by getting control for his team.

Doesn’t panic, plays a very measured, focused game. Does the subtle things like getting himself into position and anticipating the play.

I love this kid.

Sounds like the perfect player to have with DeAngelo. Preseason, he looked like he has solid skating in his game, just looked overmatched physically, which is to be expected as an 18 year old.

Are we looking at a guy that might push next season? Feel like we have a bunch of guys vying for that spot and it might push him back to the WHL again.

I think he has a puncher’s chance to make it a legit contest.

I don't know that bringing up a contact who made a pretty inaccurate comparison is really a selling point but yes, Robertson has turned it up a notch.
How is that a pretty inaccurate comparison? Lindgren has a lot of Michael Sauer’s game in him. Better skater for sure. Butt he commitment to defense and how he goes about it is very, very similar to Sauer. I think your distaste for @bobbop is clouding your judgement here.

Jones and UMASS are up 2-1 after 2. He has an assist.

Wall and UMASS Lowell won 3-2. He stopped 26 of 28.

Hughes and Northeastern lost 3-1. He had an assist.

Kjellberg and RPI won 4-1. He didn't have any points.

Miller and Wisconsin are losing 3-2 in the third. He doesn't have any points.

Barron and Cornell won 5-1. He didnt have any points.

MUCH better skater, left handed, 4 inches shorter and like 20 pounds lighter.

They're both defensemen from Minnesota and thats where the similarities end. I've never liked this comparison and have felt like it was one of the most lazy ones thrown around, has nothing to do with Bob.

He has more in common with McDonagh than he does with Sauer, but that too would be a pretty ridiculous comparison.

You forgot to add that Lindgren is not as much injury prone. :sarcasm:

Really, there’s a lot of stylistical similarities, fans appreciation and performance expectations that you care to acknowledge for whatever reason.

I think Zac Jones leads all 2019 drafted NCAA D in points.

What stylistic similarities do they have? Other than being physical, I don't see it. Sauer was bigger, slower and stiffer. A prime Sauer would have trouble playing in our system today, Torts hockey was perfect for him.

You don’t think that just as Lindgren did Sauer could’ve also lose some weight to become more mobile? Whatever, I’m not the only one who sees it and if you disagree let’s just leave it at that.

Lindgren and Sauer think/thought the game very similarly and make a lot of the same kinds of decisions with the puck as well as with their positioning. Their physical style isn’t the same at all. A comparison between the two would be all about how they process the game.

I saw a it of the Badgers/Buckeyes game. f K'Andre Miller turns pro after this season, it won't be because he's dominated college. He's been decent this year. And i think focused on playing a more simple, shut down game. You don't see him running around much. But he's also not the man on his team. Or even amongst the Wisconsin D corps. In the games I've watched, he hasn't necessarily been relied upon. He's not the one going out there in all the go-to situations. This isn't to say he's playing poorly or anything. He's playing a very risk averse style and it seems purposeful. But it also doesn't feel as impactful.

Regardless, what's clear: if he leaves after this season, it won't be based on the Gordie Clark theory that a prospect ought to dominate before he moves to the next level.

Also saw a bit of the HWP game. I am really liking Kravtsov's game. He's really quite involved offensively and is seemingly more and more dangerous out there. The progression continues. Which is great. He just about had a goal tonight but somehow missed it. He also seems to be a bit stronger out there regarding physical contact. Again, this is not me advocating he should be the next call up. I'm happy with him cooking more.

Hopefully he’s more reliable than the Michael St Croix fan!
