What do people think about the potential of Robertson and Jones? Heard Jones' coach said he was his second most talented player behind Kyle Connor.

From a style standpoint, Robertson reminds me a lot of a young, pre-injury Marc Staal. Jones reminds me a lot of Cam York.

Obviously neither player is as far along as those guys were/are, and their upsides aren't viewed as being as known, but I do see similarities.

Robertson was a kid who was projected to go in the first and slipped. There was a sense that the offense and overall game didn't necessarily match expectations and that he was closer to a cluster of similar players in a lower tier than he was some of the draft's more intriguing prospects.

I like the Stall comparison. Its almost as if people forget (unlike Girardi) he was on his way to being a good defenseman before being derailed by injuries.

If I remember correctly he was the ability to go back to the KHL in year 2 of his deal not year 1. I can't see the Rangers giving up on him when he barely has had a chance to play.
He can go back in year two with his EAC, but I don't think it's totally inconceivable that the Rangers would loan him back to SKA rather than have him fight for minutes in Hartford. I don't think they WILL, but I don't think it's totally unrealistic.

It’s not like he set the world on fire in the limited action he played. He didn't stink either, just a little bit better than average.

A fungible asset.

I don't know, times are changing. I'd be more concerned if it wasn't something like pot or partying a bit too hard. Kids are gonna kid.
Why is Fortnite and pot being treated as mutually exclusive, throw the book at him Judge Smails

Its still really early but the 3 teams our prospects are on rank in the top 9 in the CHL

Ryan Kennedy of the Hockey News rated the top 100 NCAA players. The top 100 players to watch for in the NCAA in 2019-20 - TheHockeyNews

He rated the three Rangers NCAA prospects:
5. K'Andre Miller
14. Barron
23. Zac Jones

Outside names on that list that I am curious to see this season, include:

Evan Barratt with Penn State. He's a slick, high IQ hockey player who doesn't immediately catch your eyes, but always seems to know where to be in order to create something. Not physically imposing, or a guy who puts on a skills clinic, he's almost quietly tenacious and a driving force in Penn State's offense.

Grant Mismash is coming off a difficult season in which it felt like the wheels completely came off his game. This is a season where his offense performance starts to heavily influence whether he projects as more of a middle six forward with snarl, or a bottom six forward checking forward with a bit of offense.

Ty Ronning was placed on reserve (not IR) by Maine, so it appears unlikely he will play this weekend. He also sat out the preseason game on October 5th. So, who knows what's up there.

Also, forgot to mention, yesterday, Ragnarsson made his debut with Timra. He had an assist, was +2, had 1 shot and played about 14:30. His TOI was 5th out of 7 D that Timra played. If he keeps playing well that will obviously grow. He just needs to focus on the defensive side of his game.

Isn't his low ice time more due to the fact he just returned from injury so they are likely just easing him back in?

Couldn't find a reference to this but am sure you are correct.

ECHL teams are allowed to have 21 players on their opening night rosters with 2 players placed in reserve for a total of 23. MARINERS CAPTAINS NAMED FOR 2019-20 SEASON - Maine Mariners
The current Mariner website still lists 25 players so we should soon hear of 2 more cuts and the two players on reserve, one of whom apparently is Ronning.

Maine has an affiliation with the Rangers/Wolfpack but also a secondary affiliation with Laval, the Montreal AHL team.

The 25 man roster breaks down as follows:

Rangers contracts (4) -- Crawley, Leedahl, Elmer, Ronning
Wolfpack contracts (6) -- McCollum, Tolkinen (Mariners Captain), McBride, Chase, Dmowski, Zerter-Gossage
Laval contracts (2) -- Lacouvee (goalie), Adams-Moison (forward)
Milwaukee contract (1) -- Savage (defenseman) alternate captain He played for Maine, which has his ECHL rights. He signed with Milwaukee but did not make the team and was sent to the ECHL where Maine exercised its rights to place him on its roster
Maine (12) -- Brassard (G), Coughlin (D), Kile (F), Wallin (F) alternate captain, Camarrata (F), Ferrell (F) all of whom started on Hartford's training camp roster
-- Crevier-Morin (D) alternate captain, Silvestre (D), Adams-Moison (F), McNichols (F) all of whom started on Laval's training camp roster
-- Fox (F) who started on Hershey's training camp roster
-- Master (F) who started on Lehigh Valley's training camp roster.

Because Maine has so many players it has cut several it signed over the summer and traded rookie Brett Supinski to Idaho for future considerations. It also declined to take two other Laval players who were sent to the ECHL. Maine Mariners hope to hit their stride in second season

This is much more than you will want to know about Maine. From a prospect point of view the players to focus on are the four Rangers players, the four Wolfpack non veteran players and perhaps Coughlin and Silvestre, who are rookie defensemen and Master who is a rookie forward. Everyone else has been in the ECHL before.

First game is tomorrow night.

It's more the transition to a new team
It's definitely because it's basically his first game of the year and with a new team. Though there's no guarantee it increases, given that the bits I saw of him last season he alternated between very good and abhorrent defensively. He can definitely move up the chain, but he's going to have to earn it.

It was listed on ECHL Transactions for October 9.

Maine:
Delete Ty Ronning, F placed on reserve
Delete Gabriel Sylvestre, D placed on reserve
Delete Francois Brassard, G placed on Injured Reserve (effective 10/9)
Delete Ryan Ferrill, F placed on Injured Reserve (effective 10/9)
Delete Shawn McBride, F placed on Injured Reserve (effective 10/9)

ECHL Transactions - Oct. 9

The roster on MarinersofMaine.com lists 26 players including these guys. So with Brassard, Ferrill, and McBride on IR, they're at 23, with Sylvestre and Ronning on reserve making it the final 21. At least, as I count it.
