That’s the thing. Everyone thinks he’s at best a middle sixer...eventually. But he thinks he should be getting 15 mins a game in the NHL... right now. There’s a huge disconnect.
And that's the problem. And not one that can be pinned on how the Rangers management has handled him. He clearly thinks that the AHL is beneath him now. As is for that matter, the 4th line. Not sure that is the proper attitude to have so early in your career.

A teenager / 20-year old is not being “jerked around and mishandled” when he’s moved between NHL and AHL. This is very par for the course, and so if Lias has something to be upset with - it’s his performance, not his deployment because he’s earned absolutely nothing to feel entitled to anything more than what the coaching staff assigned. In the very same vein he hasn’t earned any right to an outward reaction to how vets are being deployed. His only entitlement is / was to work as hard as possible in any situation he finds himself to earn a chance for an opportunity. Asking for a trade, doing it publicly and leaving the team is absolutely inappropriate for a prospect in the middle of his D+3 season.
Well put. He could have handled it like Chytil. He chose to handle it like a petulant child.

The thing is...he looked pretty decent in his first AHL stint but not like dominating and knocking down the door for a callup. And that's fine, because he was real young then too. But every stint back it seems like he's acted like he doesn't have anything to prove in the AHL anymore. It's not like he blew the doors off the AHL, and showed he was too good for it.

Spot on. His play never demanded the call up.

I think last year when he started down there, he started with 12 points in 12 games. He looked really good. And then he had a coupe scoreless games but got called up. That was it. The next time he went down, I commented repeatedly that he looked frustrated and like he was pouting. I was somewhat surprised when McCambridge was complimentary of him. But he never really played well enough to force a recall, even though he got it. And then this year it was more of the same, disinterested, disengaged, etc. I didn't see his 3-point game so I'm not sure how that happened.

He looked better when he first came here and to start last year than he did at any other point.

Yeah fair, forgot how he started the other year but he still definitely seemed to jus tthrow in the towel when things didn't work out in the NHL right away

I am reading all these posts on entitlement. What really bothers me is that no player is willing to just work on his game to get to the big show. No one is willing to pay their dues. Nikita Kucherov paid his dues. Why does Anderson, Kratsov and Reunanen think thy don’t. Do they think they are better than Kucherov? Pay your dues and if you have the game the. $$$ will come

is it possible upper management has been selling them on how special they are and that they will be Rangers sooner (like now), only to find themselves elsewhere?

I know Kratsov was put on a pedestal in Stamford with the fans and media really hyping him up. Did management too? Sent to the minors appears to have been unexpected.

Listening to the Cornell game on the radio so I won't be able to give a real account of how Barron is playing this weekend unfortunately. No points so far through a 1+ periods though.

Kjellberg finished the game with a goal in RPIs win. They beat the #4 ranked Clarkson 3-1.

Hughes had no points in Northeastern 5-2 win.

The Jones-less UMASS team lost 4-2 to Denver.

Barron's Cornell won 5-2 over Ohio State. He had a secondary assist on the last goal.

The Gross-less Generals lost 5-4.

Skinner and the Knights won 3-1, he didnt have any points.

Oil Kings won 5-0 Robertson had 2 assists.

Do we have a winter prospect ranking poll coming up?

Will be interesting to see what happens to Andersson, Kravtsov, Jones ect.

I remember reading that there will be a ranking poll coming on the heals of the WJC, so I’m sure it will starting soon.

really really really need a better format, than voting for one a a time

not sure what the site supports, but something like
each vote round selecting say 3 out of 6 or 8 choices, either ranked votes or not, would overcome vote splitting and better reflect the opinions of the broader group

That's right.

They always start immediately following the WJCs and immediately following the draft.

I don't think Andersson would be eligible anymore (which is good, because it'll save us from having to read another thread of whining, complaining, and general bitching)

As for Kravtsov, i don't think he'll move anywhere significant up or down, but Jones will be a BIG riser

I think Barron is going to be one of those NHl players that is outstanding defensively, fluctuates between 15 to 25 goals, 30 to 45 points a year. Depending on how much PP time h gets and who he plays with by scoring lots of garbage goals around the net. That is something most of our crappy forwards can't do. Other than one year. Wall has had a great college career. His numbers this year are absurd. To me, whether they deal Georgiev will depend a lot of what they think of Wall. Huska still has a good upside but to move Georgiev, I would think they would want a guy that can start if Shesterkin missed time.

Still think Buchnevich and somebody like Georgiev or Huska is going to the Oilers. Or maybe a Fast and Buchnevich. Rangers could use some guys like Benson and Yamamoto who are NHL ready to give this crappy forward squad some scoring depth now and for the future. Benson and Yamamoto have much higher ceilings than Fast and Buchnevich. Yet, Edmonton has to be fairly desperate. They simply can't miss the playoffs again. Not with their two stars up front.
