Agree that it is much too early to make a full assessment. So far on the positive side, KK and GM have brought much needed structure to the team and if you follow the bloggers who go to all the games, it appears the team is giving much greater effort than they did in years past. You also have to give the coaching staff some credit for Chytil, Lindgren and Keane. But I agree with Cwede that up to date the young forwards have not developed and I am disappointed that we see Gropp and Day stagnate if not regress. So keeping an open mind and positive signs to date but would like to see more development from the younger players.

Agreed, and I think it's important to remember that KK has only been there for a few months. So none of what we're looking at is likely the finished product.

Really hope next season we see Barron, Pajuniemi and about 2-3 other talented forward prospects acquire by Gorton with deadline deals for the Pack next season. Rangers need to start drafting heavy at center and on the wings.

Good that he's moving elsewhere since he wasn't playing with Leksands, but unfortunate that he can't stick in the SHL. He's been maybe my biggest disappointment this year.

My expectations weren't that high to begin with. The concussions and overall history with injuries have really held him back and while in some cases it can net you a good player late in the draft if/when they come back stronger (Reunanen, Pajuniemi), it is definitely not a guarantee.

I realized today that he is just 20 years old. It feels like he has been in our system much longer than 2 years for some reason. Hope he gets his groove back with Västerås

Reunanen starting as the 7th d in Channel One Cup, but no biggie since I am sure they are rolling 4 LDs and 3 RDs.

Hunter Skinner was involved in a really bad injury in today's game against Niagara. Got taken in hard into the Ice Dogs goalie, and his skate cut something bad. Tynan is in stable condition, and in surgery currently.

WARNING: This is really bad, and if you're not good with blood, don't watch. It's Zednik/Malarchuk level

Oh f*** that is bad. I mean at least it's not spurting out of his throat like Clint, but that puddle is gruesome.

I saw that they started the game then postponed it. I guess this explains why. Hope that kid is okay.

Apparently some scumbag at the game was heckling him and the medical personnel while they were treating him. He was (deservedly) sucker-punched as he was being escorted out

Yeah I read that. Drunken idiots.

Disturbing picture warning:

Everything I've read indicates the trainers stopped the bleeding and the kid should be okay, which is a relief. When this stuff does happen, I'm always amazed it doesn't happen more often.

This makes you wonder why there hasn't been serious push for every player to wear some sort of anti-cut under armor for all games. No excuses.
That's what I was thinking last night. I think after Karlsson got cut he started wearing those Kevlar socks.

I wear them should see the slice in one of the insides of my goalie pads. That could have caught me easily. 6 inches long. Have worn them to this day ever since.

I’ve known goalies that you can literally see their exposed ankles/Achilles since they wear short under pants and no socks with skates. Crazy to me.

Pajuniemi scored his 15th. Still 10 to play.

From what I heard his team isn't good either. Maybe the Rangers found something with this kid. Panarin wasn't drafted which is why I never discout any draft picks. Especially late picks like Pajuniemi.. Always amazing that people miss players like St. Louis and Panarin. You just watch Panarin play and say, what the heck were scouts looking at? You have to ask yourself if the draft was done again today, where would Pajuniemi go.

TPS is generally a powerhouse but is having an uncharacteristically terrible year. Kakko was on that team last season. Korpikoski plays there. Heikkinen was there the past few years. Reunanen was part of the organization. Etc.

Honestly if you asked me about Pajuniemi coming into the year, I'd say he was a marginal prospect at best. Even earlier in the year when I watched him, I didn't see it. He didn't have any standout skills that would make him an NHL player. I haven't watched him lately so I don't know if something has changed, but the numbers are undeniable. Obviously numbers don't make the player, but he has definitely jumped back on the radar.

You are looking at Panarin at age 24-27 and complain that scouts didn't see this when he was 18... Players develop. His draft year wasn't exactly reason to draft him high. This happens sometimes with players who develop at a later age.

Did you know Pajuniemi went undrafted as well?
