That's not really the spirit of the poll though.
Teams can and do take character into account when drafting players. I don't see why posters can't do the same in a prospect poll, if they so choose. Shit character and shit work ethic is going to push a player down my personal rankings, no matter the talent level.

Because at this point it's just being punitive for him having a fight with management (who shares plenty of the blame by the way).

I mean, where should the fall stop? At 20? Well, he's a bad character, he may never play in the NHL!

Yeah, but at some point the talent has to counter balance the bad character. We are easily at that spot now.

You do know this kid threw up a stink in Russia, as well, don't you? He's had problems everywhere he goes.

Also, it's not like Othmann is some slouch. The kid is our most recent 1st rounder (D+1), absolutely destroying the league he's in. AND he's a character kid. I'm absolutely going to rank that player above a moderately more skilled headcase who has defected twice now, and caused problems even in his home country when demoted to the VHL for a couple games. Oh, and he's in his D+4 season, so he's definitely old enough to know better at this point.

Depends on who you ask

Othmann, add Cuylle or Korczak.
And yes character counts, but Othmann isn't a one man team in his D+1 year on character alone. I just believe he will be a better, and more important to a winning team, NHLer than VK. Mind you, I HOPE I'm wrong because that will about guarantee Kavtsov is all star caliber.

What is the spirit of the poll? I look at it as who will be the best player for the Rangers over the course of his career. To me, at least right now, I believe Othmann will have a better Rangers career than Kravtsov.
I agree with this in general, but I don't limit it to the Rangers--I think of it more as who will be the best NHL player. We have guys like Robertson who I think wiill be a very good NHL player, but probably not here, just due to the numbers.
