What a silly statement. You may hate Crosby because he is not a Ranger but he is as tough as they come.

He's really ****in' tough, who's dreamin', the ahole cross checks somebody then hides behind his whole team...he's a great player but tough he's not, he's the biggest crybaby in the league

Even if the team is awful, which they were last night, for the contract we've given him shouldn't he keep us on a game once in awhile.

Yes he should. And he will. I think he's turned a corner since the Xmas break at least. He's looked was closer to his usually self from a mechanics and confidence point of view. He's tracking the puck well, no wasted movements , his mechanics are on point and he's not fighting the puck. He should play tonight. We all know from years I watching him that he plays his best when he gets more work and can get into a groove.

Good to see you scaling back to reality in this thread.

I agree. seriously. Come on, man. On what planet is it the goalie's fault that he makes two saves, the puck is in players feet in front of him but too far out to cover, so he ones paddle down and covers his angle and then the puck hits his d man (Staal) who fell down in front and goes to a wide open player on the Other side of the net. How is that the goalies fault ever?

Hank has not been good this season. But like last night, it wasn't players struggling to adjust to a new system or whatever. Its just odds. We are moving around way too much, and on a regular basis forwards gets open. And when they do, we have D's with the back towards the puck, 2-3 guys turning their heads around trying to just find the puck, etc etc etc.

Maybe Hank should worry about his play more. I only saw the first 3 goals and I wouldn't blame any of them on him, but with the way he's played all year he should be the last person calling out the team.

Truth. It's not even cool to hate this guy anymore. He is a world class player. He could easily hang on the perimeter and still put up top points in the league. Instead he goes into dirty areas all the time and tries to lead his team every night.

He's matured. He's tough and he has world class talent.

We have Nash.

Crosby's backhand is as dangerous as most forwards forehands. That thing is laser accurate. Scary. hank let 5 get past him, but I think he's been on his game the last few. Can't blame him for last night. The whole team was out to lunch.

Got to be frustrating for him to be operating behind a team defense that is worse than any time during his NHL career.

The # of A+ chances generated this season by the opposition has been staggering. But yup, blame the goalie.

Something very bothering is after most games we lost, AV will passive aggressively blame it on Hank. He'll say "well they only had about 7 scoring chances so we out chanced them" with disregard for quality over quantity. He'll sit there with his smug, punch able face and say we only gave up 6 scoring chances (hypothetical number ) after a game where the defense was running around like chickens with their heads cut off. It's infuriating. Nobody ever told AV of quality over quantity huh.

I don't condone AV's backhanded remarks either.

But "It was too easy for them to create chances tonight" isn't any better or less obvious.

Fair enough but Hank isn't the coach he's the goalie who got hung out to dry and has the blame heaped on him. Don't underestimate AVs role in hanks play. The backhanded remarks, not playing him enough and the system. Hank has to be frustrated after being hung out to dry with A+ scoring chances knowing his coach will look at the game and say "well we played okay we only gave up _____ *insert stat here*". And then play the back up goalie even though Hank is getting his groove back. I'd be pissed too. Pissed at the coach and the team. Plus saying it was too easy to create chances is an honest assessment from the goalie. We all complain when players are boring and give the company line in interviews, then someone is honest and it's not good?

And his whole "I haven't told my goalies yet" or "I know who I'm going with but I'm not telling you" schtick with that dumb smug smirk is getting old fast.

Plenty of Lundqvist teams had defensive problems. His numbers were never this bad.

Not like this. The chances this team routinely gives up in front of him is downright dreadful. Guys alone 5' in front of him is almost impossible to stop. This team is as brutal a defensive Rangers team as some of the pre-lockout teams we had. The quality scoring chances we give up are astounding.

You're a ranger fan right? Dorsett is the only one out there sticking up for his teammates, he's obviously not a great player..

Yeah, I think it is great that Dorsett tries. It is the results that fail to impress me. Dorsett is the kind of player who can only exist on a bad team. That is not an indictment of him. It is an indictment of Sather.

If you think it's never been this bad before, you're obviously forgetting the days when Rozsival-Malik was our shutdown pair.

I agree, he's limited but at least he tries, it is Sather's fault

Crosby attempting to molest McD is what a great player does to a joke of a team: go after their best player to make him look like a chump. Used to hate that guy and I think he still gets disgraceful reffing decisions (like the Zucc pen) but he is relentless. That's like half his ability, right there. It's also why, in reverse, I think Stepan sucks. Lotsa talent, no heart or will. Being a great player is more than the occasional world class highlight reel takeaway and assist. Consistency should be the first criterion for evaluating a player.

When players on other teams need motivating, do coaches and managers say, if you don't get your head out of your butt we'll trade you to the Rangers? That ought to put the fear into any player that cares about winning.

You make the all too common error of confusing dropping the gloves with being tough. Being tough is going everywhere on the ice, fighting for position, never taking a shift off and never ceding an inch of ground. That is how he plays.

If he was a Ranger he would be by far your favorite player in the league. He is exactly what you want on your team.

Gretzky and Lemieux were called crybabies, too. You probably didn't like them either.

Contrary to popular opinion they were a very good pair for a while and they worked perfectly with Jagr's line.

Yesterdays game was a literal travesty in terms of defensive hockey.

I really can't fathom just how godawful the forwards and d-men were. Hank has been terrible this season but the only goal he had a puncher's chance on was Crosby's backhand.

Missed 2nd period on. How did Cally look? How was Hank, first 2 goals he was left for dead.

Cally got better as the game went on, he had some hard hits, 4 showed up on the stat sheet, he had a few good plays, and a nice takeaway in the last period followed by another hard hit. He had reduced mins tough, and played well for his first game back. The good sign with him, he went right back to checking guys, so that means he is healthy. I was kinda annoyed he was not on the PP though.

Wait..u expect to get something for nothing? Why would teams take our overpaid garbage like Nash and richie?

Getting tired of the Cally trade talks. The guy is playing at less than 100 percent because of multiple injuries, the rest of the team has no excuses. Nash had plenty of games back from his injury, no excuse.

Look at Dubi, he is having a great season, after struggling last couple of seasons. Callahan is a much better player than Dubi, and people want to now get rid of Cally? Give me an F;ing break.

Guys like Cally are tough and don't cry about every call, Mess was tough, Crosby is a great player who thinks he's priviledged, I' ll disagree with you

Stats are such crap, Cally had 3 hits on one shift in the 1st period, no way he had just 4 for the game

You're right about not liking Lemieux.

You're right about not liking Lemieux.

If he had been a Ranger, you would have loved him. Disagree?

I understand disliking dirty players. I have never understood hating great players because they wear a different uniform. I know I am older than most here, but before I saw Bobby Orr, I hated him. After seeing him in person, I rooted against him, but I marveled at his abilities.

If Mario was playing, I wanted to watch. Guys that are generational talents are the reasons to watch the sport. What is better than watching Mario, Gretzky, Messier, Orr, Hasek, Lidstrom, etc,?

Rooting for my team to win, always. Wanting to watch great players, always.
