AV is certainly the safest of choices. But I'm not sure if he would be the right one. Still, he has the pedigree and has had success in the modern NHL.

It just seems to me that he has some of the decisional flaws of Torts. With that said, he may have better tactical/system knowledge for the modern game.

I'm tentative about this choice.

Not happy about this at all really. Better than Stevens and Messier, but I really think it's a mistake not to go with Ruff.

As usual when I don't like decisions the Rangers make, I hope I'm proven wrong.

I'm just gonna sit back and wait for the first bad game they play for the army of people who'll inevitably spam PGT's with "**** this we should've hired Messier"

I know AV don't have a cup, but when ur goalies give up 23!!! Goals in a playoff series (21 by your #1 goalie) what can u expect other than a loss?

How can you expect to win a playoff series with only 8 goals scored in 7 games? That to me is even worse then 7uongo's meltdowns.

In game 3, luongo gave up 4 goals before van scored. Same with game 4, van was down 3-0 in the 2nd. In game 6 he gave up 4 goals in the 1st period. and in the deciding game they we're once again down 3-0 before the 3rd. Thomas also played great that playoffs.. why would van think they can win when their goalie can't stop anything?

I mean, they did get to Game 7 because of his goaltending (for good and bad reasons)... I don't know if we really need to over analyze that run. All in all, the consensus is that Vigneault excelled in Vancouver. I'm actually surprised so many Canucks fans have endorsed him! Btw guys, thanks for swinging over and providing some valuable insight for what has been a very bumpy ride for us Rangers fans this last little while...

Thank God no Messier!! I originally wanted Boucher at the start but then realized AV would probably best suited for this job. I am very happy Sather didn't make a stupid decision with this one.
