I dont want Mess as coach, but theres no guarantee that Messier = dark times, just like there is no guarantee that coach x = success.

Also, according to half this board, the rangers can only go as far as Lundqvist can take them, so it doesn't really matter who the coach is

There's no guarantees in anything. But, based on coaching experience, we can make an educated guess that one coach would be a much better decision than someone who isn't even a coach.
Will naming Mark Messier HC cause us to finish last in the NHL? No. Will it cause reality itself to tear apart? No. Well maybe for some people. But it will, in all likelihood, be a huge and preventable step backwards for this franchise. The fact that we were 2 wins from the Finals one year ago only widens this step back.

The fact that there's even been so much discussion about Messier as a coaching option is slightly nauseating.

I know Dallas wants to hire a coach, but during their re-branding event last week it sounded as if they would do there due diligence. I think they may be in talks with AV as far as what he's looking for in a contract, maybe even some preliminary negotiations. But I don't think they are totally ready to pull the trigger just yet, hopefully the Rangers can make their decision soon. Just over two weeks until their deadline so I'd imagine here in the next 5-7 days they will make a decision.

If Messier is the coach and isn't a success he might as well unhang his banner because his reputation in NY is going to be flushed down the toilet. Hope he's ready for that possibility, if that means something to him.

He's still here. His fate will be decided by the new coach, most likely. I'd be fine with him staying strictly as a defensive coach.

I have 2 years 12U girls hockey, 1 year mites, 2 years Squirts and a year of Peewee coaching experience. And I happen to be available….. but I don’t plan on waiting all summer for the Rangers to contact me. If I don’t hear from them by the end of June I am resigning with my Peewee team……..

Well guess what. I simulated the Rangers to 3 Stanley Cupd in a row in NHL 13, without much significant roster changes(except me somehow getting Neal and Sutter out of Pitt for Dylan McIlrath. Btw Pitt offered me that trade.) does that make me more experienced?

the biggest thing about coaching at the pro level isn't about the x's and o's its all about player personnel management.. getting the most out of your players, accountability and not operating as an individual but as a team.. Messier has those qualities, one of the best leaders all time in all of sports..if we dont get AV and Tippett isnt available .. messier is worth the nod...
