I still don't think we win that series with a healthy Callahan and Hagelin. He said maybe if we stayed healthy like the Bruins or Chicago we would be in their position, as if our team is on par with these two. Even AV said we are close, he didn't insinuate that our team is the same level as the Bruins or Chicago.

Also, I like how Sather avails himself of the injuries excuse but Torts wasn't afforded the same benefit. Typical Slats, everyone else's fault but his own.

Also forgot to mention Staal. But I agree. He shouldn't look at this as strictly injury related, and I don't think he is. AV did say they'd like to bring in some more offensively skilled players.

We have a new coach! We'll make a splash! We are going to be an up-tempo offensive team like all of the elite teams in the NHL! We are very close to the Cup!

Agreed. But anyone with real hockey knowledge/understanding of what our team IS, knows that we don't have enough offensive talent. Ryan Callahan is not an elite hockey player. Heart and soul? Yes. But we need less guys like him and less grinders, and more pure offensive guys who know how to light the lamp.

Please someone post the video as soon as you can. I got the stream working at work just as Glen and AV shook hands and stood up. ARGHHH!!

Wanna hear our new coach talk about how amazing we are! :)

I agree. I feel like Sather is over-enamored with the idea of a super skilled offensive team. Hes tried that in the past and has failed. Granted, he didnt have Lundqvist between the pipes but I think its a little foolish to think that simply changing the system is going to yield results.

I am half lukewarm on this and half excited. I like AV and i think it will be a good fit for this team. He was the best available IMO and 1000X better then Messier. But the other more realistic side of me suggests that this is just another chapter in the failed misguidings of Glen Sather.

i can't see them abandoning defense at the expense of adding some more scoring talent. we need more scoring in the top nine.

I don't know whether to roll with the "cool" pessimist view or the rebel optimist view.

How would you guys think of me?

Come to my side. I'm excited to see how this summer goes and to see how he approaches this team. I think the players will be able to bond with AV easier too. Who knows? Might make a nice difference...

I think it goes at least 6 games. And if we had a healthy Staal and Clowe we beat Boston and push the Pens very hard. Minimum.

Join the rebel side, we're a lot of fun and have weekly camp outs and stuff. But be prepared to hear the most annoying crap next season if we ice the puck.

Slats finished with print media: "There hasn't been a player that's *****ed or complained about Torts. So let's get that on the table." #NYR

There is no guarantee for that.

Besides, the Rangers don't really have the depth to cover up for their losses. LAK also lost their #2 dman in Mitchell this year. Boston was playing without Seidenberg in that NYR series for the most part. Clowe had a warning sign with previous injuries in SJ, yet he was acquired anyways despite suffering an 'undisclosed upper body injury' earlier this season with SJS. Chalk that up to management for acquiring injury prone player. Every team is banged up and injured come playoff time.
