Rangers Let Go of Head Athletic Trainer Jim Ramsay

Players are limping into the playoffs as a result.

These are really organizational decisions and not just up to him.

Every team is dealing with nagging stuff going into the playoffs. Outside of Kane (who was hurt when he got here) no one had anything that was serious enough to require surgical intervention (as far as I know.)

I’m sure they would have loved to rest guys down the stretch this year, but it was their own fault that they couldn’t. That had nothing to do with Rammer.

I’m sure there is way more to this story that we don’t know about so I’ll reserve judgement until we get the details, but on the surface this is one of the last areas of this team that I would point to that needed a change. Something about this whole thing smells a bit.

The skills coach scapegoat is one of my least favorite memes here.

The rushing guys back from injury IS a thing here but generally, the rangers have been one of the healthiest teams in the league since the advent of time. It’s a weird move.
What's there to meme about?

The guy was a typical Sather hire, no merit or accountability... What does he do here? Whose skills got better? What does he do exactly?

Get rid of the dead weight. Anyone who Sather has hired needs to be evaluated. Clean house.

I've never thought about it from this perspective. Could be true as well.

You need players to buy into the team staff too, if there have been issues raised by the players that's something that needs to be addressed.

Not a big deal imo. He had a long run. Could be they want to focus on some newer methods in this area. Could be someone under him and significantly younger that they want to hold on to us getting other offers.

There's a pretty big rumor going around that Chris Drury and Jim Ramsay got into a heated conversation, following the outcome of game 4. Apparently Drury was not happy that Ramsay couldn't fix the heart on several players. The conversation ended with Drury throwing band-aids at Ramsay.
"I can't fix what ain't there in the first place!"

People really overestimate the amount of impact that he has.

Most skills development happens in the off season and I don't think players are having this guy travel around to their home towns to work with them on shit. These guys don't have enough time to really work on shit in season as most of their energy is going to be spent in game in an actual practice setting. You're not going to get a whole lot out of 15 minutes at the end of a practice session on occasion.

I have no issue if they replace him, but his impact is being greatly exaggerated.

Also blew the early chances for league-approved emergency call ups by avoiding man-games lost

Uhhhh....why????

Literally makes no sense. They've generally been one of the healthier teams in the league, all things considered. Rammer keeps these guys on the ice, I don't understand this at all.

SMH now watch this team become the Yankees...nothing but 6-8 week muscle injuries...now THERE's a team that needs to gut their training staff.

Trouba was nursing something early on in the season. Fox after the ASG looked like a different player. Lindgren was rushed back early for no reason. Kreider had something. Players not sitting for meaningless regular season games when they're injured is so dumb.

Thats a coach problem. The coach can choose to sit them whenever he wants. But he said Trouba wouldn’t let me or something to that effect. But we already know Gallant is a shitty coach with no clue or foresight.

How you practice affects whether your offseason work stays with you all season or stagnates/regresses.

If he did the Brett Howden shooting drill with NHL players, something you'd expect to see in - at most - high end bantam play, then it's no wonder people's skills regress.

It merits investigation because there's only so much you can look at every single player who comes here somehow losing the ability to handle the puck with speed and make skill plays, and blame the MSG ice and the dumpster fire that is the Penn Station ventilation shafts...especially when they flub the puck and don't make dynamic offensive plays on the road either.

I'm hearing on the wire that Drury has just fired his daily 12 pm calzone delivery guy
The burnt cheese definitely ruined his weekend.

It’s a waste of time to overreact to this based on one tweet from Staple with zero context. Any of the complaints in here are purely based on anecdotal evidence, and we, as fans, have essentially zero insight into how Ramsay and their staff managed injuries and just daily management over the course of the season. He seemed like a good dude and it’s sad that he’s gone after being with the organization for so long.

Besides, the only untouchables in the organization are Benny Allaire and Cas Marques.

Heard Jed Ortmeyer is getting promoted and will serve as Player Development lead and Trainer.

They said, "no one trained or works harder than Jed."

the country club is looking to get disrupted.

Nah Tanner Glass. Whole team's already been signed up for boxing lessons with Holyfield. Panarin's been told he'll be benched unless he KO's Tom Wilson toe to toe in the first matchup of the season.

#hurrdurrgrit

Big loss for Sam Rosen because getting 30 seconds of broadcast time to talk about how Jim Ramsay is the long time athletic trainer was time spent not butchering some European players name beyond recognition.
Makko Mikulin begs to differ

Well it looks like the team has finally started figuring out the issues, now get rid of Glass and Ortmeyer
