Cant make excuses for Hank. Talbot has had to deal with defensive breakdowns too and holds his own. one thing i love about talbot is hs rebound control and stick handling

And unlike Hank, his ass is not in the net most of the time

Honestly I feel mentally they've become so comfortable with hank making monster saves they don't work as hard. That's just what I see

Kreider got the win over on hockeyfights...outmuscled The Phaneuf, yeah I'm impressed.

He took a few punches but seemed unfazed which shows his toughness. Kreider isnt a fighter he needs to continue to score goals BUT im happy he defended himself against one of teh toughest guys in the league

That fued between Kreider and Phaneuf had been brewing all game, because Kreider made a point of getting under his skin by hitting him. Maybe he said something too, and that would be icing with sprinkles on top.
Then he took him down in front of his home crowd.
Works for me.

Exactly. Just before Kreider scored he and Phaneuf were jawing and coming together. Then Phaneuf went to the bench. Kreider took the opportunity to go ahead and score a few seconds later. Awesome player, this kid, just awesome.

Love that before the "fight" he laid that huge hit on Phaneuf too.

We can only imagine his self-confidence, as he's a rookie going after the Leafs captain in their own building. Impressive.

Zucc didn't play much tonight, I wonder why...

The box score has him leading all forwards in ice time by a minute. Might've just looked that way because forward ice team was really evenly distributed 13-17 minutes for all forwards.

talbot is making the saves at the right times. hank is letting in goals right after we get momentum

Exactly right. Even AV just said in the post game that Talbot made 2 saves on point blank shots early.

IMO, if your goalie gives you that kind of support early, the team game changes overall. If the opposition scored, you may not see those 7 goals, because the dynamics would of been different.

Dont read them. Its my opinion. I dont think Kreider is a fighter and Phaneuf is tough, i dont wanna see Kreider hurt in a 7-1 game, do you? Where was this against Pittsburgh from this team? Why should Kreider fight a guy like Phaneuf who is tough?

Phaneuf is about as good a fighter as PK Subban and about as tough as Justin Falk. He gets in them occasionally. He's never going to go with anyone serious. OTOH Colton Orr--you don't **** around with him.

Since when is Phaneuf one of the toughest in the league?? He's an awful fighter, lol. Good on Kreider for standing up.

AV got another tough decision for Monday.

I think he will go with Hank.

Phaneuf is like "what the hell just happened to me" lol

So do I. Just because starting Talbot again would send a clear message to Hank and hurt the little confidence he has left. If Hank s**ts the bed though, AV should sit him for a while.

Exactly..need Hank to get his crap together..only way to do that is to play him

Seriously, is Nash tradable at this point? Maybe we retain a few million $ salary and send him to an actual playoff contender? I mean, how in the **** is not one of the FIFTEEN RANGERS that got a career point tonight?

Slump? I don't think so. Olympic hold up? Possibly. Damaged? Most likely?

Nash looks confused and afraid to get hit. Also he needs to stop trying to get by 3 guys on his own. I understand we need him to score but i dont know how many times the opposing team sends 3 guys after him which leaves kreider/stepann wide open and nash doesnt pass the puck

A western conference team would take him..salary is an issue..didn't joe Thornton benefit from moving to SJ

Thank you, spot on post as usual.

Personally that's not even a fight. It was a wrestling match. No punches of any consequence landed--maybe Phaneuf landed a noogie on Kreider's bicep. Big ****ing deal. I like that Kreider dropped the gloves though. He doesn't know what the **** he's doing but the only way he gets hurt in a fight with a guy the likes of Phaneuf is if he falls on the back of his head.

Phaneuf is no tough guy. He can be a big hitter. He's like a slightly larger version of ****ing Orpik--they look for the big splash hit where they catch someone unawares--like Phaneuf did to Sauer. Fight someone that's the real deal--**** no--that ain't going to happen. They'll head for the bench--or one of their teammates will head off the payback or they'll turtle. That's Orpik's MO and that's Phaneuf's MO.

Maybe he came back too early from the concussions

So spot on... Hank has a tendency (especially this season) to give up goals at the worst times and kill the team's momentum. While Talbot seems to keep the team's momentum alive. This is probably the reason some people see the team "playing better" when Talbot is in net.
