Rangers are 6-2-1.

They lost the face off battle in their 6 wins, won it in their 2 losses and the 1 game that they lost in OT, face offs were 50%.

When we did stats for our teams we never bothered with overall percentage, we used situational percentages, where and when did you win those draws, its more accurate. Everyone has a go to faceoff tactic that works for them best, when i played i used my lesser faceoff tactics in the middle of the ice and the better ones in the corners. When you're Bergeron it doesnt matter but id be interested to see how we fair in faceoffs in our own end, late in a game or on the pp.

Let’s remember, the schedule maker was not kind to the Rangers. So far, 6 of 9 on the road and three more to come. 6-2-1 through the first nine is pretty damn good. Get through this week with some measure of success and then the schedule starts to turn in the Rangers favor.

They have 5 more home games through the end of November.

As you said, if this team can get through this week (month), then they are primed to make some noise between December and February

This team has pulled more wins out of thin air this season than it did during the whole Quinn regime. They always found a way to lose with Quinn. I like it better this way.
Agreed and we could definitely look at it that way.
We can also look at it like we are the WORST 6-2-1 team in the history of the NHL. Excluding Shesty and Kreids.
Chick on NHL network stated; "where would the Rangers be w/o CK? Hmmmm, same applies for Shesty. Me thinks. He stole that game, once again.
These wins in NOT so pretty fashion are HUGE in counting towards final pt. total. Pts. we didnt get last year, that eventually killed us.
Now assuming that eventually many others start playing like they are PAID to play, we should be gold.

I hope Gallant realizes this team needs to make hockey decisions faster. We were eaten alive because we take our time in all 3 zones and expect the other team to just be frightened by our skills and fall into a defensive position. The Kraken suck on paper so they really have no reason to be scared or respect anyone if playing conservative will kill them over 82 games. The Rangers have the size and grit thing down pat. Now it's the speed of the game.

This game really highlighted why we've suck so badly in 9 games so far. We are too slow with the puck. Is this because Gerard is teaching puck management? Seems so. Some of the worst offenders on our team were exposed tonight with their poor puck management. Until that becomes second nature and the players learn the system and figure each other out, we'll continue to see Leafs games and Kraken games. It'll be ugly when we play the Canes and the Cats. They waste little to no time taking the puck up the ice and reentering the zone.
Chytil line was atrocious in puck management. All 3 players were real bad. It's why they didn't see the ice in the final minutes of the game.

Our overall team makeup is weird. We have a 2nd and 3rd line that can't be trusted. That's not a good makeup. We need better defensive centers. Ive been harping on this forever it feels like. Strome-Chytil is just not good enough defensively

I dunno...we look quite slow versus other clubs . I don't see all the upcoming home games as more wins as the boys legs will suffer even more with the home cooking and stuff....stuff being the key word .

Gourde-Tanev is a 3rd line of championship teams

our 3rd line turns the puck over at the blue lines and neutral zone. Stark contrast.

Our 3rd line was supposed to be Kreider Chytil Goodrow, between the Kravtsov thing and Laf not looking any better than last year it hasnt shaken out that way.

I thought they were a train wreck last night, particularly Miller.

Trouba and Miller have improved compared to earlier in the season. They still struggle to clear the puck when they're pinned down in their zone, but their coverage overall has been much better.

I agree, just think they struggled last night.

Someone said they were our best pairing last night and that's just wrong. If it weren't for Fox breaking up plays and moving the puck, we lose that game.

Miller-Trouba has been pretty great from the first game of the season and easily our best pairing all season. They've been deployed exactly 1 minute less than the top pair of Lindgren-Fox.

Miller-Trouba have a xGF of almost 60% and a High Danger Chance for/Against Ratio of 24-12. Sterling across the board. If they have trouble getting the puck out of their own end, the numbers sure as hell don't reflect it.

Fox-Lindgren are a hair under 50% (they got shelled in the last game.) They have a High Danger Chance for/Against ratio of 19-15. Fox has been a magician at times, but this pair has been low key mediocre this year. I personally haven't loved Lindgren's game so far and Fox, while still mostly great, hasn't been his usual nearly mistake free self. Not overly worried here.

Nemeth-Nils is at 34%. They have a high danger chance for/against ratio of 9-19. They've also played 50 minutes less than the other 2 pairs. Very worried here.

Theres only one pair that has really been pinned in their own end, it's been the 3rd pair.

I honestly feel like Panarin just chilled all summer because he doesn't look quick, strong or sharp in any way.

Listening to chiclets a few years ago they said Karlsson was a freak and never worked out or skated in the off season. Showed up for camp and played 30 minutes a night. Which may or may not have caught up to him San Jose.

Wonder if Bread has the same off season program. He takes like 3 strides and then glides. Haven't seen him backcheck or forecheck with any pace.

i'd say yes and no to this. top to bottom i think we have one of the better skating teams in the league. the problem and what i've been begging for for like 2-3 years is we have no superfast guys that play at 100mph all the time. there's high end - guys like mcdavid, barzal, hughes, marchand who can get the puck and instantly change the pace of play and back teams off immediately which creates so much space...and then guys like a tanev, gourde, hagelin etc that are everywhere on the ice when they play and force teams into mistakes with how quick they can apply pressure which also opens up the ice. idno how long their contracts go which could have ended any discussion of it - and since both never felt like we were interested i never looked - but if theyre short term idno why we didn't go after arvidsson especially or even tyler johnson for the prices paid. obviously we're not getting one of the elite players, and the best of the best on the pest side like a tanev are going to be worth more to their team than we'd realistically part with, but we definitely can find and desperately need someone serviceable with that type of skating to jumpstart this offense. if not idno how we don't end up continuing to slog through low scoring games, relying abundantly on igor and collapsing in our end all night if we don't offer any threat that forces teams to back off us. if we did get someone like that i think you'd see us finding a lot more open ice throughout games and the entire roster would all of a sudden look like way faster.

gauthier is the only guy who's shown the ability to do it but is inconsistent when he gets into the lineup at all - and he's not the ideal type. really need a smaller player thats shiftier and more dynamic motoring around ...berard and othmann look like they'll add that in time. but ideally what i'm looking for in the kravtsov return is that kinda player, best version of one we can procure.

and also we just suck at breaking out so the speed we have never gets going on the attack, its either high off the glass or a battle to push a puck just over the line.

our game in the neutral zone and blue line have been dogwater.

Turk also needs to put a leash on Panarin.... his extended shifts are ridiculous.

The effort on the forecheck by players like Panarin, Strome and Zibs have been embarrassing. Strome is Jekyll and Hyde. He plays hard one game, then turns into Carvel soft serve the next.

Use the ammo to get a player like Gourde.... I still dont understand how we didn't offer TB anything for him
