My problem with Gaborik lies outside the points. Sure, his goal scoring is great but he's streaky as heck, which makes him completely unreliable. He's like a home run hitter that hits 2 against the Astros in 10 run victories, but then strikes out repeatedly when you need him most. The numbers don't tell the story whatsoever.
When he's not scoring goals, he's very rarely playing well. In fact, many times he's detrimental, hence his repeated benchings. He loses puck battles, shows no burst, turns the puck over, is absolutely useless on the wall, and floats all over the place. It'd be one thing if he was simply snake bitten right now but was playing well outside of goal scoring. But he isn't. That's rarely the case. He's actually a detriment to his teammates right now, and this isn't the first time.
I understand why people don't want to move him - we need the offense. He fills that void to a degree. Same thing with Del Zotto. But both guys aren't great fits, IMO. I wish we could find a way to do better.
