Post-Game Talk: Rangers @ Jets 3/14/13 - Tort-O-Rella

The point I was making wasn't about his play it was about his production and that's what you were arguing against.

Regarding his overall play. This season it's been terrible, no denying. Earlier years, he's had periods where he's been completely invisible, but most of the time he's been skating well even if he's not scoring, creating chances for himself and his team mates.

Why do we want a guy on our team who costs 7.5 million dollars, for streaky production at best, who has no impact on the game when he's not scoring? Can someone explain this to me?

Yay. Another year of Lundqvist that we will be wasting.

Woo!

What? I know hank is our best player since 2005/06 and he has had great numbers in the regular season since entering the league but "What the hell has he ever won when it really mattered??"
Think about it. The team has blown a 3-1 in the playoffs(vs the Caps in 09) and a 2-1 lead(vs the Devils last year) losing 3 straight games to both teams with the almighty Lundqvist as out goalie. So please, stop with the whining and moaning that we are wasting another year of Hank when he has won absolutely nothing when it really mattered!

19 GWG in his ranger career

also this:

13 points in 25 playoff games with the Rangers. Is that really what we want from a guy with a $7.5M cap hit?

Sure, you can use selective stats to try to make ARod out to be a decent playoff performer too, but the overall body of work suggests otherwise.

I'd also agree with the people complaining about Richards - he's been deplorable too - but at least he brings some value outside of pure offensive production, even when he isn't playing well. Gaborik is invisible 95% of the time.

Honest question; Can someone seriously tell me why Miller is here over Kreider?

Kreider wasn't playing well but Miller is doing poorly and causing turnovers left and right. They both belong in the AHL but seeing Kreider get pushed into the doghouse with Miller still here is baffling.

Help me understand this :shakehead

strange. Lots of skill on paper in the top-6 and the top-4, and a Vezina between the pipes.

Torts is no tactician. Never was. When things go wrong he has nothing in his playbook, if he even has one.

Rangers might have to look towards the CHL ranks. A young, smart open-minded individual who can relate to the current generation.

oh god i cant stand these two.

"put gaborik with stepan and nash"
RON NO do not break up nash and hagelin. BAD BAD BAD IDEA

"wow losing prust is really hurting"
common prust is not the missing piece to this team. what a pathetic comment to make. prust may be one of the most overpayed players in the league. yea i like him and hes a good bottom 6 guy but hes making way too much. prust is not the reason montreal is doing so well and we are sucking.

I don't follow montreal, but for what he is doing there this season so far is not being overpayed for. Sure he only has 9 points so far this season, but is playing in ALL situations even strength/powerplay/pk. He gives his team a boost by his play or fighting. I think Prust is missed, but its more than just missing prust this season, I think there's not much confidence right now and the team is missing an energy guy to boost the team and play his heart out.

Really pathetic game. They were really pressing in the 2nd but then the Jets got a flukey ass goal and they just gave up after that. I really hope this was rock bottom and they don't continue to get worse.

We also really miss Staal :( Girardi was great last year, he really stepped up in Staals absence but he has been very brutal this year. McD too at times though he played well tonight. MDZ needs a guy like Staal to play with to cover his defensive brainfarts.

I'm not a Gaborik hater by any means but let's call a spade a spade. Nothing he's done in his past is helping us now. If he's not going to be the player he was then he's just wasting space. We NEED 40 goal gaborik. We don't need whatever version this is right now.

I agree 100%. Im severely disappointed in Gaborik, and he pisses me off, but the main difference lies between giving him the benefit of the doubt vs. trading him.

I obviously side with giving him the benefit of the doubt. His resume here is simply too much to ignore, and 26 games is not the difference between being elite and being washed up. Im sorry.

Its all these annoying "old-time" hockey birds coming out that simply just do not and will never like him because of his style of play. Thats 100% of it. Thats it.

Guy could score 60, they dont care. "His style sucks!" "I want more grinders! with heart! Cause Gaborik doesnt have any heart!".... supposedly.

I have a feeling most Gaborik haters are over 40 and are more fans of the older NHL.

Hate to break it to you fellas but its 2013, not 1970.

You need to study up on the 1970's Ranger teams. A lot of skilled players. Jean Ratelle a good example of that. It wasn't a bunch of neanderthals on the ice.

Answer me this: how does this all negate him playing like **** this season? Why should I give him the benefit of the doubt when he just stands there? Why should I be excited for a player who isn't even trying?

Right now, I'd glady trade Gaborik and use some of that money in resigning some of our RFAs.

media: what'd you think of the "tortorella" chants?

torts: what the...

media#2: he'll take the next question please.

what the hell did this poor kid Michael Haley do wrong so far? just another post with no fact or reason.. Tylor Pyatt is ok with you and your thinking?

Alright, fine keep Haley. He just looks like a complete schmuck on offense, but that's his not job. And it's not his fault Torts plays him in offensive opportunities.

I'm a goalie, this bashing of the best player on our team has to be the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen on this forum. Without Lundqvist, we would be in 15th place this year. He bails out our team so often that everyone loves to take it for granted. He did the same thing in the playoffs last year. Without him, we lose to Ottawa in the first round.

It takes a team to win in hockey, Lundqvist has done all he can over the years. He is the most talented goaltender in Rangers history. No question about it, and I love Mike Richter. Richter was clutch and won the big game, but I still believe Hank can do the same

a few theories. Back in 2010 Kreider stayed in college which pissed Torts off. Also miller is a grinder and we all know torts likes grinders.
