Is there a connection between Gallant and Girardi?

They both played for Tampa Bay and they both know Steve Yzerman? :dunno:

I don't even know what the connection is between Gallant and Drury either, and the only connections I can think of with Gallant and the Rangers are 1) Joey Kocur; 2) Joe Paterson; 3) Jaromir Jagr; 4) Ron Duguay; and 5) Brad Park.

Yeah his production is almost the level of being an anomaly.

The skill is there. He shows you bits and pieces and you’re wow’ed by it. Then he makes you wonder how he can physically skate with his head up his ass the next game.

Gallant will hopefully help him find that level of consistency.

If the decision is to keep him I’m all for it. But he needs to play more. Ideally Strome goes and he plays in that spot. I’ve been one of chytil’s biggest supporters.. if they keep him on a 3rd line with Kreider, he’s still needs to play more minutes at the cost of 4th line ice, or if 1st or 2nd Line run cold. It’s not optimal because we all know 1st and 2nd lines get th bulk I’d minutes, as they should

One thing that feels unique about this recent hire and just whats going on within the organization in general. Lots of new blood, new ideas. It's not the Glen Sather/Jeff Gorton/John Davidson Family Tree at work.

Alain Vigneault was the last hire where it felt the Rangers went for someone outside the family. That worked well for a few years and then didn't.

But with Drury it's going to be a bit more wholistic it seems. He's also brought in Grier. Gallant will likely have some assistants that haven't been in the organization (cept maybe Girardi).

Its really going to feel like a new era. Good on Drury for having the confidence to go outside his comfort zone with this hire versus a boston/ny/buffalo guy or someone he's already had a long relationship with.

One thing that's very clearly going to be different. Gallant definitely seems like he's got a bit more of that charismatic intimidation to his personality than Quinn. That said, like Quinn, the thing I'm most interested to see develop is Gallant;s relationship with the vets. I didnt love Quinn's way with the vets. The leash was far too long. And they weren't held accountable. We'll see how Gallant handles that. As far as how he'll be with the kids, I'm cautiously optimistic.

Most of the vets had their best seasons under Quinn, but there's a narrative that must be adhered to.

Yeah Chytil is just kinda weird regardless of who the coach is.

Like, he has obvious skill and is objectively effective if you look at the stats, but he also has really strange and really frustrating habits that don't go away.

I once described him as the worst good player I've ever seen.
Yes. Well said. He seems to do a lot of pointless awesome things.

Guys I’m not so sure about:

Zibs, I’m just feeling weird about him going into the future even though I absolutely love him as a player.

Kreids, if Gallant can get a consistency out of him we haven’t seen, even on the lower lines it will be impressive. But I’m not sure that is possible. It will really matter in the playoffs.

Miller, not because Gallant will have any issues with him I just see a sophomore slump incoming.

regarding Miller, I hope his sophomore slump was actually the second half of last season- he def looked tired or confused without Trouba.

tbh…. I may never forgive him for slowly and non-chalantly skating back to the bench after Martin concussed JT. It would be like someone suckerpunching and knocking your brother out and you just walking to the bar to pay your tab and walking home alone.

He needs to grow a pair. Too nice out there.

I'll venture here:

Boost

Kakko and Lafreniere will take similar steps as Barkov and Huberdeau.

Fox is gonna cement his place as one of the absolute elite at his position and will have the team success to get the votes for awards.

Struggle

Chytil - I think he's gonna frustrate Gallant and vice versa

Kreider - I think he's going to find himself in a weird spot.

Felt the same way about Kreids. But who knows maybe Gallant is finally the coach who finds the magic elixir to keep him consistent.

I agree with Chytil too. I was gonna put him down in the not so sure about list as well. But I avoided it because I think he will be traded.

You should definitely wear that jersey with a Rangers hat to games. If Gallant sees it, he'll get a true kick out of it.
I have to think I can find somebody that can arrange a meeting . LOL... @bobbop if you do get the chance to meet him you will have to bring up the Kennedy family you are quite familiar with....I'm pretty sure Turk has had a beer or two with the brothers at various golf events and celebrity sport dinners .

I disagree on the Kreider and Chytil front. Big strong forwards usually do well under Gallant, no? They are on the dumbish side, maybe he can help communicate

Some names speculated: Mike Kelly, Dan Girardi, Darryl Boyce, plus his Team Canada coaches...
Not Boyce....he won't put his recently new son in law in that situation . Definitely Kelly . I would not rule out Dave Cameron though who has been in Europe and has head coaching experience in Ottawa and they are friends whether that is good or not....but it's a new name to consider at the very least . I was wondering about Lane Lambert ...they are also friends. Lambert an assistant now with Isles ???

I'm so excited to have a coach that is known for accountability and for allowing young players to learn/develop even if they make mistakes. We are at a point that certain kids need to be put in roles to allow them to blossom

I can see a few players taking off under Gallant.

Laffy, who would’ve taken off with any coach really but Gallant will help guide him to be the leader of this team. I think they are a perfect match over the long haul.

Kakko, who I think Gallant will love in big spots as he matures.

Barron, who will be given a shot in the arm as a developing bottom line character kid with some raw skill.

Lindgren, because he’s Lindgren.

Hajek or someone else unexpected. Gallant will unlock someone’s true potential.

Cuylle when he arrives.

Trouba. He’s on the up. Gallant will get him over the top.

and Panarin. Yes, believe it or not I still think there’s another level to Bread and GG will get it out of him.
Gauthier and Kreider . If he can get to them....it certainly solves a lot of what is wrong with the pulse of this club on a lot of nights ...and if a wee bit rubs off on Miller....we are cooking with GAS !

Injuries haven't helped. I feel like every time he looks like he has it all figured out a piano drops on him.
