I think a lot of successful coaches figure out how and when to pivot just enough to put their players in the best position to succeed. If he can do that, on top of the buy-in, the talent is there to do the rest....or will be there in decently short order.

Hello friend, how much do I read into this?

(I would like to read into it a lot)

You generally commit to a coach for 3ish years. It's much easier to jump for the "best available coach in free agency," than it is to overbid for a Danault or RNH or whatever player in order to fill a need. It's also easier to "get rid of" a coach in the last year or so of a contract than it is a player.

GG is the right guy at the right time. If we find the "perfect coach" for the 2024-25 season and beyond, then cool. We have a good coach for the last chapter before we enter the prime of our next core.

Agreed, it’s just money. MSG/Cablevision/Dolan has enough.

Right now things are still shaking out with changes. They'll open up with time, they always do. But it'll take some time to get more info. Already things are more open than they were a few weeks ago, and that will continue.

Thanks for the insight. I agree, the expansion draft + entry draft are next up. Not expecting too much major news during the playoffs anyway.

Like everyone, like the hire. Got the best available as far as track record goes. The Rangers are a really weird team, make up wise, having so many kids who've barely played and a few vets who have barely played meaningful games.

I hope they name a captain too. Gallant feels like a good fit to help build a culture here. Here's hoping he can reach not only the kids but even more so the vets: Zibanejad and Kreider need to get their shit together.

They're definitely eyeing some AGM candidates.

Nichols in Nashville seems to be a leading POI. Whether or not the feeling is mutual remains to be seen.

It's kind of funny, I feel like with Gallant at the helm we might be even less likely to name a captain in the short term.

They have a good team. Our future still looks bright. I don’t want to read too much into it, but happy Drury took awhile to make this move. It shows thoughtfulness on his part.

The playing time drove me nuts. It really did.

Watching Kakko and Laf go out there, and earn time, only to see Blackwell out there in every scenario imaginable, was like death by papercut for me.

Do we have any idea why this happened? There no explanation for it that I can think of. Also, did the FO ever wonder why their top 2 OA draft picks were playing less than AHL players?

I'm here for NJPW roster building.

Our blueline needs to be as protected as the One Winged Angel.

Love to see Turk name either Lindgren or Trouba as the new C .....and maybe he lets the players vote on that . I am not sure how that went with his other jobs elsewhere .

It wasn't that big of a deal. It was exacerbated by the fact that our top PP unit dominated the ice time, and deservedly so. That is one thing that Gallant would be a fool to tinker with. Everyone would agree with that.

I don’t like to associate defenders with head coaches because it’s really the defensive coach that’s doing the work there.

Jacques Martin was great with the defense this year.
I get that.
But also Gallant let rookie Ekblad have the opportunity to be AllStar and win Calder. That is encouraging to me.

I think there was more acceptance of it earlier on when the kids were getting their feet under them. I speculate that it became an issue down the stretch. I remember at the time saying that they're gonna have to kick the crutches out from under him.

There will always be people who won't like a move. We could trade Brett Howden for Connor McDavid and I guarantee you at least one person would find something wrong with it.
