Ehh on the Brooks tweet, the first two coaches were hired today. Every team is going to do their due diligence and interview multiple people over a few weeks time.

Hopefully its Leach. 2 teams pretty near our age range just went with younger guys with little to no NHL HC experience. It isn't unheard of, nor is it inherently a bad idea, just like hiring a vet coach (Hynes) isn't an inherently good idea.

If it has to be a vet though, I guess Lav is the best choice of the bunch since he doesn't come with off ice antics/issues like the rest.

Yet.

Change it from humans to Rangers fans

I would rather have Keefe over Laviolette.

Make a call to Shanahan. Treliving will hire his own coach.

This is a good question. I’d prefer Keefe to Laviolette although I have some reservations.

I’ve been a Babcock guy all along and I’d certainly warm to Patrick Roy. I wonder If Travis Green gets a late look here.

Is there literally anyone happy with the prospect of this happening?
Outside of immediate family?

I hope that some people here are right and drury is feeling the interest from the fans bc it’s clear as day that Lavy is trash and more of the same. 42 saying bad hire, not one said it’s a good one.

f*** the rangers if we make him our coach. We are f***ed as fans
I remember many NY fans saying the same exact things years ago. Fans were pissed and had no idea why this guy was hired. Old retread fired in multiple places. I have to admit I had no idea why we hired the guy either. I thought the owner was out of his mind. The guy who was hired was named Joe Torre.

lol at comparing a baseball manager who does nothing to a hockey coach when doing comparisons. Also George Steinbrenner was a god at making great teams

I swear to god if we go another quarter of a season with no one being able to tell what our system is... i'm going to... to... type more furiously on my keyboards.

I dunno...

I just want to this team to play like a team. We've had 5+ years of players just making it up as they go along every shift.

I want those pre-planned down low plays. I want a forecheck that has both urgency and planning. I want set break out plays that can spring some of our less fleet of foot players. I want defensive coverage that doesn't feel like a fire drill.

The Rangers need to take VIAGARA to get excited for Laviolette

The AI overlords have provided us with the background details of the Laviolette meeting. Now we know what happened:

Once upon a time, in the bustling city of New York, the New York Rangers found themselves in need of a new head coach. The team had recently bid farewell to their previous coach and were eager to find a replacement who could lead them to victory. The general manager, Chris Drury, took it upon himself to conduct the interviews and make the final decision.

One sunny morning, Drury woke up feeling a bit sluggish. The pressure of finding the right coach was weighing heavily on his mind, and he knew he needed a boost of energy. In a moment of desperation, he reached into his medicine cabinet and pulled out a bottle of blue pills he had received as a prank gift during a recent birthday party.

Little did Drury know that the pills were actually Viagra, a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction. He quickly popped one into his mouth without reading the label and headed off to the Rangers' headquarters, where the interviews were scheduled to take place.

Meanwhile, in a different part of town, Peter Laviolette, an experienced and respected coach, was eagerly awaiting his interview with Drury. Laviolette had achieved great success with his previous teams and was excited about the possibility of joining the prestigious New York Rangers organization.

As the appointed time for the interview arrived, Drury, under the influence of the Viagra, entered the meeting room with an unusual air of confidence. He greeted Laviolette warmly, but something about his demeanor seemed off. Drury's eyes were slightly bloodshot, and there was an undeniable energy radiating from him that Laviolette couldn't quite put his finger on.

Undeterred, Laviolette sat down and began to discuss his coaching philosophy and experience. Drury listened attentively but found it increasingly difficult to concentrate. The Viagra was having an unintended effect, causing his mind to wander and his thoughts to drift into less professional territory.

As the interview progressed, Drury's excitement grew. He couldn't help but imagine the possibilities of working closely with Laviolette. In his mind, visions of victory on the ice mixed with more, let's say, personal desires. Drury tried to shake off these inappropriate thoughts, but the Viagra-induced enthusiasm made it difficult for him to remain focused.

Despite the unusual circumstances, Laviolette carried on with the interview, unaware of Drury's predicament. He spoke passionately about his coaching strategies, his dedication to player development, and his unwavering commitment to success. Laviolette's words resonated with Drury, who found himself becoming increasingly convinced that this was the man who could lead the Rangers to glory.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the interview came to an end. Drury, his mind still clouded by the Viagra, stood up and extended his hand to Laviolette. He thanked him for his time, barely managing to contain his excitement.

Later that day, as Drury reviewed his notes and reflected on the interviews, he couldn't shake the feeling that Laviolette was the right choice. Despite the unusual circumstances surrounding their meeting, Drury believed in Laviolette's abilities and his vision for the team. He decided to offer him the position of head coach of the New York Rangers.

In the end, Laviolette accepted the offer, unaware of the strange circumstances that had unfolded during the interview. The Rangers went on to have a successful season under his leadership, and while the story of Drury's accidental Viagra consumption remained a secret, the team's victory served as a reminder that sometimes, even the most unexpected paths can lead to triumph.

Yes which sports they managed was clearly the point as was who the owners were. Good job! 👍

Can't hire Keenan. He's coaching Italian national team.

They probably have more speed than our team.
You'll never have to light a fire under their ass, just change the sweet peppers with the hot peppers and put out the hot capicola and they are all set.

One cup in 80 or so years.

It will never change since the team's value is always #1. Dolan doesn't care about cups as long as his investment is always giving the highest return.

The future is continually bargained away so that aging legends can come to the NY retirement home where Dolan can rake in those sweet Jersey profits.

Mediocre coaches with no systems.

Yeah, might be time to find a new team to cheer for.

"Peter Laviolette"

Rangers fans: UGH. NOOOOOOO. GOD NO. PLEASE GOD NOOOO. NOOOOOO

"John Hynes"

Rangers fans: ....all of a sudden, Laviolette doesn't seem so bad
Mad respect for the Preds. Going to help us all cope with hiring Laviolette with the sudden threat of John Hynes lurking. Well played.
