Rangers have lost 13 out of their last 17 games. What would you do if you were Dolan (the owner of the team) or Drury (the GM)?

With the other NY clownshow in the NFL - I hope they hire Avery and it turns into a circus. If theyre going to suck at least make it entertaining

Like when the Knicks hired Isiah Thomas out of the blue and sh,tcanned Scott Layden who was considered a team builder.

Layden assembled a team of cast off missfits that were actually winning games but looked ugly on paper, then Zeke came in an "Same ol' Kicks" got rid of the Layden players and brought in high dollar names and they were back in the basment again.

Dolan is generally the knee jerk medaling owner that needs to back off. He let Sather manage the club unabated and we had some succesful cycles of teams. Albeit flawed at times.

Avery being hired reeks of Zeek 2.0

Hockey needs more rivalries where even the admins hate each other.
I just hope it doesn't bite us in the ass.

Leon Rose was a tremendous hire after the Phil Jackson disaster. The question is, who is the Rangers version of Leon Rose?

It’s hard to figure out what happened to the Rangers. After the first period this afternoon, just the look on their faces and body language looks like they threw in towel. I wouldn’t want to be in that locker room.

The team looked shell shocked today. No energy. No fight. A change is in order and fast.

The coach has lost the room. I say this as someone with no bias and has been through this kind of "sky is falling" hysteria with the Oilers start of last year (and even in the year Tippett was fired).

He may be a good coach, but once he's lost the room, it's over. You have to make a change.

The Rangers can come back from this, but the GM has to make a move like now.

It seems like the Rangers strategy was instead to try and scapegoat individual players like Trouba, Kakko, Kreider, etc. That doesn't work with this generation of players I don't think. Front office needs to accept the coach is done and hire someone else.

Only 12 shots in a 5-0 loss. No investment in competing. Heart is gone from the club.

That just shows me a team where the coach has lost the room.

NYR front office is being negligent in not making a change and trying to scapegoat players like Trouba.

Even if they are a good coach, you can't fall in love with coaches in this league. They are hired to be fired.

The most interesting thing for me right now is the Devils outscoring the Rags 10-1 in the two games they played each other this year. Ouchies.

We lose to everyone. The f***ing Preds shut us out last week. You ain’t special lol.

Although , Dallas wtf

The mgmt refuses to fire the coach because because the core as gone thru too many coaches I guess? Stupid reasoning imo. This guy is a moron and needs to go, even if changes to the roster are needed

Can tell you right now this is stupid reasoning for sure. Been through this as an Oilers fan, you keep firing until you find a better fit. Simple as that. If we had kept Woodcroft a year ago out of "shame" of not wanting to have fired too many coaches (and there were media members and some fans saying just that), we don't make a Stanley Cup Final, no chance.

There is no salary cap on coaches. Fire away.

Did you stop reading past the first sentence? Start with Laf at C.

I don't understand how handing a young player a C he hasn't earned is going to solve the issue of entitled players, if that's the problem. Seems like a good way to turn him into a primadonna too.

I don't think it's as simple as leadership anyway. They just aren't that good ... Last year was a house of cards built on a great PP and goaltending, but there were real flaws. They had a smaller margin than their record suggested, and now guys are showing their age and it's fallen apart.

Plus it's not like they're just making straight business decisions on guys they want to get rid of, players tend to understand that ... But they're making business decisions AND seemingly trying to publicly embarrass those guys, some of whom are popular in the locker room.

You can have all the leadership in the world, but if players feel like the boss is making it personal, good luck.

My question is if Drury is even allowed to fire the coach at this point. If I was the owner…he’s going too when the season is over. I mean you can do it…but I would make clear he can only put an interim in place and if the season ends outside of the playoffs the next GM will be hiring the next coach.

In fact believe it or not the GM lost the room and the coach can do nothing about it. By all means fire Lavi if he can’t get something going, but the issue the players have is above him, he’s just stuck in the middle with no solutions

It’s not. But that’s one step. Then you read the rest of my posts and changeover the roster.

Don La Greca on his Game Misconduct podcast always mentions the point that every player on the 90's Devils hated Lou.

Every player on the current Rangers roster might hate Drury. The difference is that I truly believe Lou garnered a lot of respect. Drury hasn't.

The Rangers greatly overachieved last season. This year they have come back down to earth.

They weren't anything special five on five, but they really shouldn't be this bad.

The roster has Shesterkin, Fox and Panarin. Kreider had well over 30 goals in each of the last two seasons after scoring 50+ Lafreniere seemed to be on the verge of a break out last spring. Trocheck is pretty good and Zibanejad has at least proven to be capable of producing.

There's no way this roster should be performing like a bottom-feeder. The team seems to have completely given up for some reason. It seems the players don't care or aren't trying. I get the sense that there's a lot of toxicity in the organization at the moment.

If Buffalo and NYR played right now, who would win?

If Trotz and Drury made a trade, who would win?

Good luck answering these questions.
"Like coin that won't get tossed"
I dont get the Rangers panic, both goalies are over .900 and they have a winning record. And have 5 players at or within 3 points of 20 points. I get Igor isnt playing elite hockey, but surely they can still win with .900 goaltending? No?
Well. Oilers had a horrible slump last season and it's a fart in the wind now.
So they could pull out of it.

Everyone knew the Oilers would get out of it. Their metrics were really good, and it's not hard to predict a team with two top 5 forwards to break out.

The Rangers are very different.
