If you were so awake, you should have titled Fowl ------> Foul because the Fowl were foul.

I don't think so. The Rangers probably do, but I don't subscribe to this idea that there's a limit on skilled defensemen.

Like, yeah, I want less Adam Fox in my life.
Tbf jones and lundkvist arent fox. I think theyre super skilled but you have to think management sticks to their methods.

Ryan Strome.... oof tonight

3 stars of the game go to the Hartford squad. They logged some important minutes and had a solid impact in the game, moreso as the game went on.

Agree with the sentiment that Klingberg doesn't fit with one very large caveat...

IF we stay healthy. But in the age of covid protocol + injuries, it wouldn't be a bad addition by any means. What this says to me is he's the perfect rental candidate. Won't hurt our long term cap, can step up in the top 4 if someone is out and shores up the third pair when we're healthy. He'll only help our 5v5 play as well; we could use another D man that can break the puck out of our end

The addition I'd rather have though is Rielly Smith.

Kreider-Zibanejad-Kakko
Panarin-Strome-Smith
Laf-Chytil-Goat/Hunt
Goodrow-Rooney-Reaves/Hunt

Is a disgustingly talented and balanced forward group

They had a dominating third, a very good first and a not so good second. When they realize they can't get in track meets with teams as most are faster, this team is fine. Man they have to add some speed in the forward group, there's enough speed on D, but the forwards are slow compared to most teams. I have to say that's the one glaring flaw in my opinion.

No to Klingberg. He's better than some in the rotation, but there's a log jam and young players on the way. I hope they improve the forwards, the defense will work itself out organically of that I am 100% certain.

Barron needs to play every night, especially if hes going to go 7-1 on faceoffs.

Overall, very impressed that they won handily tonight. After the Ducks scored, the Rangers of the past few years probably lose, but not tonight. Mika's line immediately gets it back and then they collectively shut down a young team and overwhelmed them in the 3rd.

Winning this game with a pre-season roster after getting pumped in Vegas shows this team is growing up

it’s been long overdue to get this kid some action.... would love to see him him on a more consistent basis.
Adding a big man that can win faceoffs and play well down low and along the boards is exactly the type of player that thrives in a Gallant bottom 6.
He’s been a way better option then McKegg since the get go imo

Totally. Anaheim looks awful. Maybe they didn’t take the Rangers seriously or something. But that was a putrid effort.

Totally. The last thing this team needs is a defenseman. I guess we could stand to get a decent depth guy, just in case of injury. But really, defensemen doesn’t need to be on the shopping list. i think we just need a depth forward or two. Ideally a guy who can score a bit. And a backup goalie, if Georgiev gets moved.

Good win, Ducks are a good team. Other than that blip in period 2 that 3rd period is EXACTLY what you want to see out of this team. Pens blowing that game today also big. My only critique is that Zegras didn’t score - last leg of my 3 anytime scorer parlay
Are the ducks a good team? Admittedly I don’t watch a lot of their games and they were missing some players too, but they seemed pretty mediocre. Like are they just in playoff position because the west is so much weaker than the east this year? Both standings and eye test say the same thing, and outside of a few teams, Vegas and Colorado for sure, plus Minnesota, St. Louis, and maybe Calgary, the rest of the “playoff” teams in the conference are relatively weak, kind of at like the Philly/Columbus level.

Ducks are still rebuilding they have exceeding expectations this season but they are not a playoff team yet. Rangers are ahead of them and expect them to make the playoffs. Good win and they really took control of the game in the 3rd period. Anaheim had no chance to come back.

Strome has the hockey IQ and processes the game at the speed of a high end 3rd line center. Some of his attribute like vision and passing is 2nd line center level. Some nights you get a Ryan Strome that executes like a 2C, other nights, he does things on the PP and at EV that looks so obviously not top 6.

This team is going to add. They will. It may be a rental (likely) or it may be someone what term. But this team keeps winning in a year where they have the cap space while knowing potential tough decisions are on the horizon the following seasons with player contracts and the cap. Its not to say they will sell the farm, but they will add to this group.
maybe they would have been better with keepng Bush and forget the cap space??

If it is only for this season..what is the plan to remove Kane and his cap hit beyond this season ? Surely it will cost us something decent to send him elsewhere with his cap hit and term if he does not pan out . There is a risk reward involved in a move like that . No doubt about it though he is a great add for the Metro playoffs ....and if team agreed and he was right in his mind and comittment I would pull the trigger on it .

They needed the cap space to start the season. They have deadline cap space. They also wanted to open up the top 6 forward group for younger players to have an opportunity to win those spots. Even if they found a way to keep Buch for one more year, he would be blocking a younger player from potentially earning that spot in camp. Yes we all know what happened with Kravtsov, but that was the mindset of the organization, which conceptually made a lot of sense and still does. Whether they “won” the trade or not is a whole other conversation that has been beaten to death.

shot attempts very even. This is just a game where ANA shots didn't get through. They must have had 12 shots go wide and a bunch more blocked. Maybe we clogged the center of the ice well and countered their point play after that game against Vegas but roll this game 100 over, I don't think they finish with 13 shots or less more than 1 or 2 times
They hit two posts from prime scoring areas too. The Rangers really did take that game over in the second half though.

This. They have played above their head so far this year, but are still very young and inconsistent.
They have a few quality vets sprinkled in as well. Gibson also masks a lot of deficiencies
