Post-Game Talk: Rangers @ Flyers | 1/24/13 : Kill Me Now!

The Fundamentals are being played wrong, the talent is there, the depth guys are there. Let the talented blue line be more aggressive, create a better forecheck and they have the speed and size to do it, and be more aggressive in your zone, this is all on Torts.

EDIT: Thought this was in the main board, I come in peace! :surrender

On a positive note: defense is coming together, and Hank looked good.

But the offense...ugly. So many terrible passes. No speed, no life. Cally, Stepan, Hagelin, Richards I'm looking at you. 5-on-3 was one of those moments where I'm especially proud to be a Ranger fan.

ONLY FOUR GAMES INTO THE SEASON AFTER NO TRAINING CAMP.

That's how I explain this.

But yeah, let's get rid of the guy who helped us to the top of the East last year. :shakehead

The same guy who was horribly outcoached by Paul MacLean and Dale Hunter and needed to rely on luck to beat two teams that weren't even on the same talent level as last year's Ranger squad.

Only forwards who did anything good tonight were Gabs and Pyatt, and that's because they scored a goal. Everybody looked like a ********* besides that. Nash and Gabby were really disappointing after looking so good yesterday.

Rangers got off to a rough start last year, but it was different. They were losing close games and managed to push it to OT/SO to steal a point. Team defense was lot tighter and the effort was there. I actually wasn't too concerned about their losses in the beginning because I saw some encouraging signs in their play.

This season, it's kind of the opposite. The defense is suspect - the forwards aren't giving the defensemen enough support, the coverage is lousy, and both the defense and forwards are guilty of being careless with the puck. The battle level is almost nonexistent for large portions of the game. I understand their conditioning isn't what it normally is after the lockout, but can they at least play like they give a ****?

He learned a lot from Bickel's 2:10 and Newbury's 5:24 of ice time. Get Asham and Kreider back in Saturday night, and don't move Bickel back to defense.

agreed. Get those bums out of the lineup and play the guys that were sitting. Kreider will score a goal. He knows he needs to pick it up.

Eminger is fine on D, no freaking Bickel. Asham can fight Orr

No need for the flag, I agree.

But we were in the ECF finals last year, and therefore Torts is perfect and his system is impregnable.

too funny.

torts has found his perfect player. taylor pyatt.

big, slow hybrid 3rd/4th liner type guy who cannot back up a defender to save his life but who can cycle and forecheck and grind it out.

kinda slow, kinda blah but a 110% effort player who will chip in a few goals here and there not with skill, but with pure "jam".

the personification of the "torts system"

god help this team

Washington hasn't won a game...

Rangers board flip flops worse than a politician caught in a lie. Only game Nash has played without a point and the trade was a mistake. LAWL!

Game sucked, they did this last year at times to. Need some sort of spark, and a little streak, if they get rolling they will be tough to play against.

...Or you can not overreact to 4 games and realize I never said that, but instead am imploring you (and 90% of the board) to realize an entire 82+ game season of Torts hockey should trump a ****ing four game span in a lockout shortened season.

I agree completely. They're playing dumb hockey. Needs more effort and better thought process overall.

Oh yeah, it sure was luck. Absolutely.

:shakehead

Don't know what you'd call Game 5 vs. Washington then.

Pulling out a game 6 in Ottawa when trailing a team that barely made the playoffs 3 games to 2?

No, not luck at all having to win 2 Game 7s at home against two teams that you finished 20+ points ahead of.

Please. Tortorella was outcoached by a hack and a goon, and then when facing a well coached team in the ECF, they fall apart.

Kings held without a shot on a 4 minute PP. 0-5 for the period against an Oilers team that allowed 6 goals last night. 0-for the season.

Blow it up. They clearly cannot win the Cup with this core.

Is he going to have a really lousy year and fall down to our second round pick?

I guess you've never watched playoff hockey before.

Or you can just ignore an entire regular season. Both are equally as bad for this discussion.
