Post-Game Talk: Rangers @ Flyers | 1/24/13 : Kill Me Now!

Fact of the matter is, the team needs more energy.

It's not a coincidence we had our best period of the season after we had practices.

Here's hoping we get a really good one in tomorrow and see a different Rangers team.

How can anyone not be worried when the team is not giving any effort out there?

This team looked as flat as the ice. Flyers didn't play last night and wanted it more but....

We still should have at least tied the game on the PP advantage. Your special teams need to win games on nights when you don't have it even strength. You simply can't afford to go season after season with have a legitimate special teams advantage.

Torts' game plan seems to rely on intense training and discipline, which is great, but he has not clue on how to coach an effective PP.
We shouldn't have to win every game with heavy lifting.

We were 1-3 last season too. And we were in first after 48 games... Everyone needs to relax.

There was a difference, though.

1-1-2 vs. 1-3-0.

I honestly didn't feel as down about the team in 11-12 at the start as I do now. That said, I do agree with the general point, and I do believe this team will turn it around. It's just been hard to accept that the team could come out of the gates like this after waiting an extra 4 months to watch them. I'm low on patience, but I'm being patient as this is the effect of a shortened season on some teams.

I'm starting to worry this isn't true. The value that Dubi, Artie, Prust, and Fedotenko brought to the team was pretty massive. They were our main forecheckers, our main penalty killers (along with Cally)...losing all of that is tough. And they would help keep the team steady, with the inconsistency of the young guys like Stepan and Hagelin.

I agree. Only good replacements have been, Pyatt for Feds and Nash for Dubinsky.

Anisimov and Prust have not been replaced. and it shows.

This is why I'm not really worried. Rather see them go through the growing pains and gelling process sooner than later. We lost a huge chunk of our identity in Dubi, Prust and Anisimov and it looks like they need to find that identity again.

If we could convert on our lengthy 5-on-3 chances, we would have at least another W in the win column.

Beyond all of the other glaring issues, the PP is crippling this team. You can not have these kind of golden opportunities handed to you, with a one goal deficit, and do nothing with it.

Bryzgalov barely worked up a sweat that game. Lazy effort. The team looked exhausted out there and struggled to get even mediocre chances.

Good way of putting it.

A lot of new faces on this team. Forgetting their inconsistencies on the ice, Dubinsky/Anisimov/Fedotenko/Prust were a big part of this team's identity. The players replacing them need to be entrenched in the way this team plays and how they interact with each other. Simply put, they need to become more comfortable with one another.

so we're back to not having a 4th line at all. i can dig it. i don't think torts can take all of the blame here. the guys (minus lundqvist) played like ****

ALSO: we need to stop ****ing fighting. it's not helping our momentum in the least bit.

They lack the heart they had last year. Dubinsky, Anisimov, Prust, and Fedotenko were heart and soul players for this team.

Pyatt is a great addition. Nash has all the talent in the world. Gaborik showed up to play this year.

Beyond that this team looks like trash so far. Richards is pathetic thus far. Downright abysmal. No accountability at all. He can't keep the puck in the zone at the point, he can't win a critical face off, terrible decisions with the puck. His points are a byproduct of playing with Nash and Gaborik.

Tortorella is running these players into the dirt. He refuses to use a full bench. The power play is garbage.

Philly was asleep at the wheel for half the game and this team couldn't muster enough heart to put a puck in the net? A full minute+ on a two man advantage and they stand around staring at eachother.

Wake the **** up!

He missed half of training camp with the flu.

I'm willing to give him a few games before calling him pathetic. He's still a threat to score out there.

This team just isn't very good. When you are forced to play guys like Newbury and Bickel 4 games into the season, without an injury forcing them into the lineup, you have huge problems.

Imagine if this team sustained an injury? The season would be over. Embarrassing job by management putting this team together in the off season. A team that was so close to the Finals last year, now has AHL fodder playing the bottom two lines.

Asham was injured tonight.

The Rangers are on their way to being the Lakers. Make the big offseason splash (splashes in the Lakers' case) and put out a garbage product. The Rangers were hot garbage in 3 games. It's not just losing, it's getting humiliated and outclassed. Today was a new low. At least the Bruins and Pens are good teams. This was an 0-3 team with a bunch of players missing. A disgusting loss.

I didn't call HIM pathetic. I called his play pathetic.

He's been awful. Its fine that he missed a couple days with the flu. There has to be accountability even for the big name big money players.

Outside of Nash, Pyatt, and Gaborik, the whole team has been awful. However, I'm not ready to jump ship here. We are only 1/12th of the way into the season! They will get it together, I'm sure of it. The amount of panic in this thread is downright laughable and pathetic.

I think Bickel goes down and Ferreiro gets called up to play with Boyle and Pyatt. Could be an interesting line.
