All of the indications have been Stepan getting more than the 2 year bridge contract. The Rangers will need to trim somewhere else.
Stepan is 4 years away from group III. Mac was 3. Hagelin is 3 years away. Stepan is getting more than 4 years if its a long term deal. 5 years for $20M.
What about a 3 year deal to take him 1 year before UFA?
Glad to hear it. If there is one player to lock up long term its McD.
Since it is 6 years it will probably be closer to 4.75M per, is my projection.
Giroux got 3 x 3.75
Stepan would probably be 3 x 3.5
It could be doable depending on what Hags and Zuke get (assuming we still want to re-sign Zuke).
Giroux had 2 PPG playoffs and 1 PPG full season. He also signed at 23 (McDonagh-style. He was arbitration eligible like him iirc. Stepan isn't). So Stepan would have one much cheaper year at least. Steps has also only had 1 PPG half season and two underwhelming playoffs. Even regarding the difference in cap, I still think it'd be more along the lines of what I outlined above.
Giroux wasn't arb eligible when he signed that deal.
Ryan McDonagh's agent says "close but no deal yet." Sides still working to finalize deal. All signs positive, though.
With Powe and Asham buried, we have 8.4 mil left to re-sign Step, Hags, Zuke and Falk.
2 x 2.85 for Step
2 x 2.25 for Hags
2 x 1.3 for Zuke
2 x 1 for Falk
Total is 7.4, leaving us with 1 mil (240k without the bonus cushion)
Great deal...Loving it, but what does this mean for Lundqvist's contract now?

Doesn't mean anything for Hank's deal because Hank is signed for this year already.
Falk, Kreider and Miller doesnt count if playing in AHL. (160 games under age 25 if signed before age 21, 80 games if signed at age 21-22 etc.).
btw Moore is RFA or not?
I think capgeek is wrong http://capgeek.com/player/1541
Moore already played in AHL/NHL in 2010-2011
and
If a player aged 18 or 19 signs an entry-level contract with a club (with his age calculated on Sept. 15 of the year he signed the contract) but does not play in at least 10 NHL games, the contract will "slide" or be extended one year. The extension does not apply if the player turns 20 between Sept. 16 and Dec. 31 in the year he signed the contract.
Moore turns 20 at Nov 19 2010

extension? I dont want him to become a UFA. We all know some team will offer him some insane $8M AAV
