Post-Game Talk: Rangers @ Devils | 2/5/13 | 6 Goalie System Brah!

i'm pretty confident Nash will end up the year with more points (and most likely goals as well) than that enigma called Gaborik

Summer Buyout please.....but that's a story for after the season

Gaborik is the reason we're 4-5, and not 2-7. Hes given us two wins out of 4 total.

2 GWG thus far.

I didnt know it was still 2009-10, and Gaborik was the only gamebreaker on the team, thus relying on him every damn game.

I didnt know Richards or Nash werent here to help out with goals.

Thats interesting.

For all the boasting about Nash, he has yet to impress me. His great two-way play and physicality isnt doing much in the standings is it? No. His goals do though. All two of them. You know, what he was brought here to do.

Also, I can see why "should use his teammates more" is under flaw in his scouting report. He likes to hold onto the puck a bit too much. Puck hog? You bet. And dont give me the 5 assists BS, because those were largely situations where he HAD to pass the puck, otherwise he wouldve gotten chewed by everyone.

The anti-Euro/pro-NA bias here is astounding. Look no further than this board per Gaborik/Nash.

Brodeur stole this one, IMO. I won't even accuse our guys of not burying chances, cause none of the instances, like with Hags, were shot into fatso's glove or chest. He just made incredible saves at key points.

1. Get Halpern off the PK. He is Charmin soft. Completely useless. Hopefully Powe can fill his role and he gtfo.

2. Torts needs to get rid of Sullivan so the PP can look somewhat professional. 3-30. Tied with Boston @ 28th in the league. IDK about Boston's chances, but this Ranger team has blown countless 5-3 chances in big spots.

the past is the past...
so we should ignore the fact that he has coasted 90% of this season?

This team has too much talent to not be competitive. The Rangers did some good things tonight, got some bad bounces, and robbed by Marty. I'm not too concerned to be honest. The team looks a hell of a lot deeper once Cally and Girardi come back.

Wrong.

Its about give a *****.

When Gaborik gives a **** he's a game breaking player.

Problem is, he chooses not to give a **** far too often.

What is this, ****ing 2009-10?

Last I checked, there were two other guys brought in to help out offensively that have exactly 4 ****ing goals in 9 games.

Gaborik has given us two of four wins. More goals than both players combined. What the **** have they done?

Guys like Stepan and hagelin need to step up because their jobs are not safe anymore with kreider and miller looking good together. Also Nash has been good BUT he was brought here to score and he isnt scoring like we thought right now. Hank was really affected by the lockout. maybe its time to let biron play until Hank is ready mentally

If Gaborik is coasting then wtf are Richards and Nash doing?

Everyone's fawning over Nash the last two weeks, yet he has yet to impress and take a game over himself.

"That size! oh look, he ALMOST scored there! oh, and ALMOST scored there too! ALMOST again! wow, Nash is amazing at finishing!"

I can see why hes not in the upper tier of goal scorers. He doesnt finish or have as good a shot as Gaborik does. Gaborik isnt as noticeable without the puck, but hes been almost a PPG in nearly 4 years here. Gaborik amazed people by himself here, right outta the gate. Nash is oohing and aahing and yet has 2 goals and we're playing like ****.

Gaborik simply produces, whether you like his style or not. Nash thus far hasnt. Two-way play, physicality, thats great. We have a full roster of it. He can start scoring anytime and winning us some games, you know, like the heartless Euro he plays across with 2 game-winners.

Someone made a new account to get their points across.

I think I'm gonna become a CBJ fan. I might end up living in Columbus for work and they have all our old scraps anyways. Their fans are used to sucking so the expectations are low, the tickets are cheap and it's probably pretty hard to be disappointed by that team.

Were you also the one satisfied with Scott Gomez in his time here? After all, he did put up the points.

I really hate to ****ing admit it because Richards is a great guy and was one of my favorite players before joining the Rangers, but I think he is bordering on Gomez level during Gomez's final season here.

Trade him to a sucker team like Calgary for their 1st and Jankowski.

Trade for O'Reilly who fits more of a mold of Torts-kinda player.

Gomez actually produced right on par with his average. I think Gomez was fine here. The issue was simply his contract.

For his type of contract, you need more points, and that was destined to fail the moment he signed. He was a good 2C paid like an elite 1C.

they punishing you :D

Meh, money and security at the price of living in dusty Ohio. It could be worse. Not sure if it's going to happen just yet, but a quieter life isn't the worst and Columbus is, at least metropolitan enough to have things to do. Catch a lot of CBJ games for cheap, that's for sure.

I've noticed that while watching the Jets, when there's a play near the opposition net, I get excited and think "hey, we might score!". With the Rangers, I think "hey, how are they going to screw it up this time or have it bounce just a bit over the stick?" I don't have that "we're going to score a goal" type feeling with these guys, no matter how frantic the action is. I hope this changes.

I'm... actually not that upset. Yeah, we lost. Yeah, I ****ing hate David Clarkson. But what I saw were a ton of scoring chances, some snake bit players, and one of those games where we easily could have tied or won, but a quarter inch one way or another, and we didn't.

My god I'm impressed with Miller.

I thought we outplayed them 5 on 5, at least outside of the 1st.

This team is getting KILLED on special teams. If the Powerplay is bad, that's one thing. We can over come that. This team cannot, CANNOT afford to have a bad penalty kill. That has to be our bread and butter, that has to be top 10 in the league for us to win if the powerplay is going to continue like this.

Gotta kill the top line, at least for now. Even if GNR turns out to be a GAG line, that's not enough.

We missed Cally and Girardi.

If this didn't look like a Rangers Devils game, that's with good reason. It's the first time Nash, Pyatt, Halpern, Miller, Powe, and Asham have put on a Rangers sweater against these guys. They wanted this game alot more than we did.

For that matter it was Miller's first NHL game, Powe's first game with the Rangers, Kreider's first game back, with Cally and Girardi out. Could have looked alot worse.

Nash and Gaborik both had chances, both got robbed by Marty. Richards didn't look good all night until the play where he made that great pass to CK for our only goal.

Roster wise- step in the right direction.
Battle level wise- meh.

JT Miller looked like he wanted this more than anyone. He really, really wants to stay in the NHL

We were #1 in the league with regards to the penalty kill. A lot of good that did for us. And even if we were somehow #1 again on the PK, being #30 on the PP is going to rip a chunk out of all our collective *****.

A point or so out of the president's trophy and a trip to the ECF. That's what having one of if not the best PK's in the league did for us.

All irrelevant if you don't make it to the big dance and win it all.

So you're just going to call the entirety of last season irrelevant? seriously?

29 teams didn't win the Stanley cup last year. The Rangers got closer than 28 of them. Only 1 team had more points in the Regular season.

Do you THINK they were doing something right?

I don't care if the player comes from the Moon and I think most fans here feel the same. Funny thing is that, I never think where the player is from when watching the game of hockey. Who cares ?

That one team that had more points than us got their ***** handed to them by the eventual Stanley Cup winner, twice. Really want to say that that team's fanbase are tipping their hats knowing their team at least won the President's Trophy twice in a row?

I don't care if the team finishes 1st, 4th, or 8th: if you don't win it, it's all for naught.

You mean like the Kings? Or the Bruins? Both teams had wretched powerplays, but sterling penalty killing units.

Actually, during the regular season, both the Kings and Bruins had better power play units. Only Los Angeles was better than us on the PK by 1 place.

So we are to conclude that, between the ECF and now somehow Gaborik has had all the effort sucked out of him. Coincidentally at a time when our team is in a poor run of form?

This logic is suspect. My theory happens to be that people like to complain when things aren't going great.

:handclap:

Human nature , I reckon.:)
