Post-Game Talk: Rangers @ Devils | 2/5/13 | 6 Goalie System Brah!

It's not just Gabby though, many of our forwards look like they don't give a **** lately. I was screaming at Richards when he just glided past Gaborik, who was trying to get the puck out of the zone and was being tied up, right to the bench.

Forwards? How about the guy in net

Just some cleaning up from the GDT...
make up your own ****ing chant sewer rats
I am so sorry we chant Henriques name, too bad you guys chant Marty for Biron for the last two years.

The first time the Devils have sold out all year. And ****ing **** Hagelin.
We sold out our first 4 games and we sold out this Sundays game already.

Overall good game, very tamed. Devils were puck lucky in the first period so you should of had some goals. Nash is a beast, I really like Pyatt and I liked Miller's game although he wasnt out there that much. Looking forward for round two.

Our offense is horrendous. Richards is playing with two of the best wingers and goal scorers in the world. Him having 7 points, a few of which were dumb luck does not satisfy my requirements for a #1C on the contract he's on playing with that kind of talent on his wings. He's been handed a DREAM opportunity, playing between those two guys and he has been MASSIVELY... MASSIVELY... MASSIVELY underwhelming. Having X number of points doesn't buy you a free pass. His job is to make the offense go. He gets paid to be the guy who can thread the needle and set these elite goal scorers up with opportunities. He has instead banging in a couple of rebounds and picked up a few points here and there while leading a completely flat, uninspired, ineffectual and plain bogus offense. He has better help than any center in the NHL could ask for, on his wings. He looks old, slow and uneffective. He's not creating. He's not assisting. He's not QBing. He's not leading. He's cashed in on a couple of opportune moments (like banging in a couple of rebounds on plays where Nash made everything happen). He hasn't done ANYTHING to warrant praise this season, despite being given a fantasy gig. And I have NO idea why he wears an A on this team besides having been Torts' golden boy almost a decade ago.

If you're dissatisfied with his production that's fine. I can certainly see that argument.

But how can you question his leadership? This was the guy running practices during the lockout.

Richards is not playing up to his capabilities right now. He's usually a smart player but he's been making some dumb decisions lately (enough with the blind backhand pass already). He's also been passive and isn't as decisive as he usually is - have to wonder if he's one of the players Torts is referring to about being tentative. 6 points in 9 games is nice but Richards was an offensive catalyst and putting up over a PPG in Dallas - that's the Richards I want to see.

I don't think I'll ever understand why Gaborik, who has 2 40G seasons, was 3rd in the NHL in goals last year and played through a torn rotator cuff injury in the playoffs, get crapped on.

Garorik is CLEARLY more infuriating, without a doubt

Nash actually asserts himself.....and gives a cr*p on almost (if not every) shift

That's the last thing you can say about out one-trick pony in Gaborik

Just because Gabby has more goals tells nothing about how engaged a player is shift after shift.......

Gaborik's "one trick" is being slippery and then ending up in the right spot and sniping. That "one trick" got him 100+ goals since he came here. He is never, ever going to play Nash's power-forward, puck possession style, but that doesn't mean he's not an important player and it certainly doesn't discount the incredible efficiency he's shown for scoring goals his entire time here.

Boy, we sure are Great at making good goalies look fantastic..

yes....our shots and chances and way too easy to see and stop for the most part. We make many goalies look All-Vezina. We had Fatso looking like he was in his Prime, making save after save. Yet the Isles can put 5 on Marty easily couple game ago:shakehead

It's amazing how people call Gaborik infuriating and revere Nash.

One of these players appears very quiet and sometimes you wonder if he's playing and he somehow has 5 goals. The other one dominates the ice and wows on every shift and somehow only has 2 goals.

Which one of these players is really infuriating?

100% agree on Gabby. However, I'm not infuriated with either of them. It's simply just been difficult to get the chemistry going. No training camp, high expectations, slow start. It all adds up and hangs on their shoulders. We need a streak, maybe 3-6 straight well played games where it all comes together in order to get the team chemistry going, individual chemistry going and most of all get their confidence up. They need to believe that they can win every game and that the guys next to them are going to get it done.

I think Gabby and Richards should play together, they had chemistry last year and can recapture it. Gabby benefits from a center who will create space and find him. As much as everyone here appears to hate Richards (I agree he hasn't looked great so far, but not nearly as bad as a lot of you are implying) he is good with the puck and drawing defenders and then finding Gabby.

Nash should be with Step. Simply because Nash is a guy who needs the puck on his stick and needs the offense to run though him. Putting him with Richards and Gabby diffuses this, with him looking to pass when he should be looking to drive to the net. With Stepan he has a decent center who can find him when he's open but also won't be running the offense, which is what Richards does.

Like I said, when the team as a whole isn't scoring, mostly due to a lack of depth beyond the best guys, the blame still comes back to the best guys.

Thus far Gaborik has had a frustrating season and I'd like to see him step it up. Fine. But when he's on he wins games by himself and there's absolutely no replacement anywhere. Not in the system, not on the market, nowhere, unless we're getting Stamkos.

The only good thing to come out of this game is Miller/Krieder. Miller at 19 looked more relaxed and confident than most of our top guys which isnt a good sign for the overall team but good for the future. Kreider returned in a big way. When this kid is healthy and he is allowed to just play he is a really dangerous player

And all this bickering and finger pointing after we didn't even play a bad game

**** luck and a hot goalie. It happens.

His goal was beautiful. Excellent shot.

Any news on Girardi? Just a maintenance day off or something?

Was at the game and was surprised to hear that he was scratched.

Remember guys, Thursday is our first game against a bad team

Time to explode

not sure what "bad team" you've been watching but from what I've seen there is little reason to believe the piles wont severely embarrass
the rangers...with dipi in net no less...
that "bad team" has put up 10 more goals and the special teams are on two different planets. prepare yourself for that "bad team" to prove who really is the "bad team". that "bad team" is a prime example that chemistry and hard work can overcome an abundance of overpriced players

Great coached game
Fantastic PP
Pretty good PK

What's the deal with Mike Sullivan? Can a lot of this horrendous pk/pp stuff be put on him? they look so hurried and worried and just dump the puck and turn it over.

Just got home from the game, disgusting.

Tough for me to really gauge it from the upper deck, but it seemed like Kreider had a good game and I noticed Miller with some solid shifts.

Power play is beyond a joke at this point, I just don't get it. And it seemed everytime Nash and Gaborik were on the ice we were pinned in our own zone.

Few positives, I guess they would be positives, is that we had a handful of really good chances but couldn't bury em. Brodeur had some big saves, and dunno how Nash missed that open net to start the 2nd.

Waste of money for me tonight. We better beat the Isles.

I find it more infuriating that Nash is night in and night out the most dominant force on the ice and his numbers don't come close to matching that.

i'm pretty confident Nash will end up the year with more points (and most likely goals as well) than that enigma called Gaborik

Summer Buyout please.....but that's a story for after the season

This is the point this team turns around.
Let's hope it's the last kick in the pants that they need before they get going.

They need a few wins in a row to get their confidence up. They need to believe they're a good team in order to be a good team. They need to know they can win.

Also, while Hank isn't the biggest problem, we need him back in vezina form ASAP. We will not go as far as we can with an average Hank. His slow start is to be expected, toughest position to jump back into at NHL speeds after not playing for 9 months.
