So what happens to Rempe's suspension? Is it on hold? Can he play in Hartford?
IIRC the AHL can choose to uphold it at that level if they want. No more games will toll off his suspension until he's back on the NHL roster.

online reports say
yes he can play for Pack,
but whenever he's recalled to NHL, he has to serve one more game suspended
Ahh that makes more sense

I mean, every coach he's had with the Rangers would trust Zibanejad with their lives.
Totally. Look, I'm not raining on the parade. I have no issue with the pickup. I'm just not sold that the NYR is the best team to iron out this players' particular set of strengths and weaknesses. If Laviolette couldn't find more than 13mins and a tsp of PP time for Kakko, I'm not sure why he'll find it for Arthur. But, hey, Kaliyev could have one of those nice Vatrano runs early too. Either scenario I could see turning out not great. But there's also upside in the player for sure, so don't count me a hater.

He'll shoot. That's one thing you couldn't offer Kaapo enough money to do.

That alone makes me willing to give it a chance.

Kaliyev's first practice with the Rongos skills coach:

"So I know you like to shoot, so pretend that your linemates are the net. Shoot it at their stick, but miss, or shoot it so hard that it explodes off their sticks. Whatever you do, don't shoot it at the actual net. This is the way."

One dimensional goal scorer who has had mixed results on that end at this level.

Was a big deal in his draft year. Numbers really popped off the page but he fell beyond the 1st because the rest of his game isn't really any good.
Well...he is twice the player now then he was a few hours ago since he is Ranger property ......LOL....

Its a good pickup, low risk.

But I feel like the same things that pissed him off in LA (Vets getting more time, not enough PP usage, ice time, etc.) will be no different in NY. In some cases, maybe even worse.

I mean Lavy is still trotting out Mika in the final minutes of the game when home growns in Chytil and Cuylle are having great games with hot sticks and they arent even considered because its not what "we work on in practice"

Well it's not smart to come into a new situation not knowing the lay of the land and demanding shit. It's not how things work anywhere really and he hasn't really proven all that much so I wouldn't expect great things right off the bat. Maybe Laviolette tries him out with Panarin right off but I have my doubts but when the team is off all kinds of things can happen.....so he'll probably need to be a little patient but it might not take that long the way things have been going. That said if he gets that chance he needs to take advantage.

Yup first thing that came to mind for me too.

Had an excellent showing that WJC. Came off thinking that maybe all the prognosticators got that one wrong.
In a perfect scene he is a new friend for Miller and Jones to pal with on the club. We certainly have some new faces these days on the club.

Also, if we're going with "hey this guy might be a good producer if he plays more..."

I don't know that he's familiar with anyone on the team outside of Berard (they played together on that WJC team.) He wasnt a NTDP/NCAA guy.

Honestly I just hope he gets an honest shot to sink or swim. Throw him on the top 9 for a grip and see what he can do. If he fails he fails.

I like this move. It costs nothing, and he does something no one else on the team does.
I gotta ask since he shoots a lot ....but does he follow up for rebounds or does he high tail it to a quiet area of the ice after shooting it ???? If it is the latter he is liable to injure one of our own wingers while doing so being new and all . It would be awesome having a guy that shoots a lot and heads Tom Wilson like to the crease . That is probably a lot to ask for .

Agree...takes a really long stick to score from the press box. Maybe the team catches lightning in a bottle. We need some small breaks for a change .
