To me, it was AN ABSOLUTELY AWFUL PLAY FOR A SHORT MOMENT. In a stupid way, I am kinda glad it happened. Creates an additional sense of urgency.
Serves as a wake-up call for the next game too. Like "yeah, we dominated this game, it was 3-2 but we dominated... but the fact that it was 3-2 shows what can happen if we let our foot off the f***ing gas. We know we can beat them, so go out there and do it, and don't let up"

Congrats on winning the first game :) If the Panthers get knocked out I hope you guys go far so I have a team to cheer on? :)

Didn't watch but how was Nečas? I see he scored a goal, did he have a good game? I'll always recall fondly his playoff performances for Kometa which helped us to our two recent cups.

Necas had flashes but didn’t get a chance to get into a groove. He saw close to his typical TOI but the flow of the game was so choppy because of the penalties.

his goal was lucky as he shot the puck to the back post but hit M Staal’s skate and went in.

The Rangers were targeting him a lot. My assumption is they saw him as the only real threat outside of the 1st line. If they could knock him off his game then they could focus on the 1st line. Trocheck said not so fast.

The Necas-Trocheck line was probably the best line on the ice for either team today. He was a big part of the win even if the goal was just a weird bounce.

As a fan of both teams, I will say that I was surprised at how well the Canes D played without both Dougie and Pesce.
The forecheck was insane.
Score could have been 6-2 or more. Tons of rebounds that didn't get converted , posts and unlucky bounces.
Vinnie showing up is a great sign. He just didn't show it during the regular season.
Loved Skjei setting the tone early against his former team!
Fun game to watch.

I don't know why I decide to read Rangers board but some of the guys blame Lundqvist for the loss

Also, opinion like this. I mean, everyone has opinion but "I don't think this NYR roster has a statistically significant chance at a cup this playoffs, but they should be able to beat this Hurricanes team."

They may not appreciate how good guys like Slavin, Aho, Svech etc really are.
What they really don't get is how Rod can get his team to buy into his system. The forecheck and back pressure takes commitment and the Canes can be relentless.

Big market teams cannot cope that a small market team is better

It really does not matter if the Canes win 6 cups in a row, people will still say dumb stuff like that even though they root for demonstrably worse teams.

Still blows my mind that Rod hasn’t gotten a Jack Adams nomination yet

Hrál dobře, ale celkem po něm šli.
Gól byla haluz, ale zároveň to bylo správný rozhodnutí.
Na první pohled to vypadalo že to byla střílená nahrávka na Trochecka.

Didn’t get to watch the game so going off highlights until I can watch a replay but my thoughts...

- Trochek seems like a Canes type of player and by that I mean he seems to be buying into the team culture and is a jerk. I like it

- Rod is the f***ing man and he gets the guys jacked up big time. He’s a grade A motivator. If you can’t play hard for him, you can’t play hard

- Don’t read the Rangers board... it’s just yikes over there. Apparently Prince Igor is so good that his puck handling, rebound control, and ability to ‘move the puck up the ice’ on top of his brick wall goaltending means that the Rangers automatically win any game he plays in. It is fun to read them shit all over Fox today though.

- Let’s do it all over again on Monday
