Talbot's been amazing and I agree our D generally seem to tighten up when he's in net, but you choose a really weird time to call for AV to drop Hank.

I don't think you watched the same game everyone else did. Hank seemed like the only ranger on the ice most of the night. Pouliot played a decent game too. Nothing worth benching him for at all.

Again, I'm not knocking Lundqvist, I'm praising Talbot. I'm saying that the players play better when Talbot is behind them.

Also, I should've said "Start Talbot" rather than "play" him. I didn't mean "bench Hank" this game at all, but that's my bad for not being clear. I meant for any given game this season.

Cam beats the defending cup champs his first game back, almost notches a shutout. Hank can easily do the same, but it doesn't seem like he gets the boys playing at their best whenever he has to make stops for them.

Ahead of Girardi or McDonagh? Seriously, since he got a puck to the face, he has not been the same and at this stage, even Stralman is better.

Better than Girardi at everything. He's been dominant in 2014. Better than McDonagh defensively. He has a rough night. McDonagh has too, It happens. He's still a beast

That's the backup goalie effect. Teams tend to tighten up and play better defensively for a backup goalie. If we played Talbot every night we would see the team give up on Talbot like they do for Lundqvist

Lol at Staal being better than McD at anything.

Staal is great but he had an awful game. So did Stralman.

I think it's funny people are turning on Nash now. I've always disliked him. This board is so up and down on him though, so I usually hold my tongue when it comes to him, since most of the time people don't like my anti-Nash stance. I'm not gonna go off on a rant but I just have to wonder, at this point does anyone still think this guy is worth 7.8M a year? He doesn't hustle, he doesn't use his teammates well too often, he rarely makes those around him better and he does not know how to show up for meaningful games. We've never had a marquee player I liked less, and that includes when we had ex-Debbie Gomes throwing lob shots at the goalies chest or when Bobby Holik was paid like a 100 point player. I mean, he's clearly talented and it's nice when he shows up, especially when he gives us a sweet highlight reel goal to enjoy, but can anyone not be frustrated knowing this guy is 6'4 and nearly 220lbs, making 8M a year and playing like a teddy bear that only shows up when he feels like it, and often in games that are already won/meaningless.

At pure defense Staal has been better than McDonagh in 2014. Overall McDonagh is still better. I'm not knocking McDonagh. Staal has been dominant for us.

Staal-Stralman has been our best pairing in 2014.

Captain invisible? Seriously he hasn't done a thing since 2012.

Tell that to the Tampa fans, in 3 Games played, 3 Assists, +2 rating, 14 hits, 10 SOG. Got the 2nd star of the game last night. So yup he is invisible. :shakehead

No, not really.

McDonagh is clearly our best dman and one of the very best out there. G and Staal are a toss up for #2. Staal has actually been terrific for much of this season. Staal has more talent than Girardi, Girardi is more reliable and tougher than Staal. Some nights Staal is our best dman, or at least the best behind the stud muffin wearing #27 and other nights G is that guy. Staal having a bad game doesn't really change that.

Well of course, the Callahan drama is over, and now the focus is on Nash who makes 8 million and not 4 million. He scores some goals, and then disappears for about 5 games or so.

Have you seen Artie's and Dubi's stats this season?

Do you actually think he was doing anything to help the rangers? He was horrible this season. Consistently missed chances and tried to play like he was more talented than he is. Cally was not setting the pace to games anymore when he was here.

Yeah, I saw that game last night, he looked great. Sadly I can't remember the last time Cally looked that good as a Ranger. Certainly haven't seen it this season

Seen 'me? I've practically posted weekly updates of them on here, but that gets me yelled at usually. I'll always miss those two, and, honestly I don't think Nash with his cap hit will ever be worth both, but that's a very unpopular stance and I'm not in the mood to argue over it. If anyone disagrees, that's fine, just disagree but let's not debate it. It's been beaten to death and it's just my opinion. We turned on Dubinsky way too quickly over one poor season. He's much better than a lot of our fans give credit for. Unfortunately, Rychel is looking like a nice prospect as well, but hindsight is always 20/20 I guess.

How dare he lead this team in goals. That ****ing bum

Way too often, he's the Rangers' worst forward.

I'm not even kidding. He's either the best player on the ice, or the most detrimental thing on skates. And he hasn't been the best too often.

We will never win relying on him.

Yeah, I watched too and thought the same. Sad, but sometimes it takes a change to reinvigorate a guy. He's now playing for a contract on the open market and also trying to make an impression on a new time. He's not wearing an A or a C. He's not a leading scorer. He's not an established member of the team. That's a lot of change and it can easily chase the complacency away and lead to a guy's reemergence.

Agreed. This pretty much sums up my overall dislike towards him as well. He's like a lesser Ovechkin. At least Ovie scores constantly. Nash either scores or might as well not be dressed. And sometimes even when he scores it's in a blowout, either for or against us, and doesn't change the outcome.

Nash isn't the worst forward on the ice at all. He's just invisible. He isn't hurting the team, he's just not helping us. MSL should be better than he has been, really hope he's just adjusting. I'm actually excited to see if AV keeps the MSL-Stepan-Nash line together. FWIW I think Richards is more consistently terrible than Nash.
