Last night was a stinker. It happens, burn the tape and move on to Thursday.

They need to step it up though. Philly is one point behind, Devils are somehow only 3 behind.

The biggest reason for the PP success is not Zuccs or Richards.

It's Arniel and the fact that they now lend a great deal of importance to it.

The PP was never a priority to Torts and it showed. 15.7% last year - 19.7 this year.

Both player and puck movement on the PP this year has been better than in years past. When you have that many moving parts, it forces the D out of position which is where prime opportunities come from with the man advantage. For years we would stand around, pass the puck around the umbrella, get a weak shot on net (or wide). This year there is structure, there is movement and there is a better understanding of what we want to do while up a man.

No one player is responsible, we could have had the same kind of success if Torts treated that aspect of the game with the respect it deserves.

Could see this one from a mile away.

MSL still integrating himself into the offense, going back to a place where you won a few nights earlier, against a team on a long losing streak starting their real #1 back from injury. This had loss written all over it from the start. I wouldve been thrilled getting a single point out of this one.

Oh well.

Move on. Gotta think this team will start scoring goals with MSL in the lineup. A 30 goal scorer and 70 point player of his calibre doesnt just stop scoring all of sudden, right?

He does when he becomes a New York Ranger, see- every goal scoring player who has ever joined us via trade or free agency.

Man, Staal has these nights where he plays lights out, and is the best defenseman on the ice, and then there's nights like this, which happen more often than not, where he plays like complete ****...

We had the Canes number, beat them 9 times (I think) in a row, we were due for a loss, whether it was ugly or a close one. Minnesota next, nothing to learn from the tape, the effort wasn't there.

Edit: It happens in every sport, to every team, nothing to be completely disappointed about aside from the Rangers looking like they didn't want to even compete against the Canes.

Problem is, they have about 4 or 5 teams below them all fighting for those playoff spots, and a lot of those teams are less than 4 points away from the Rangers. They need to win games like this, because facing teams like San Jose and Minnesota are not going to make them just cruise along and get a win.

This is a major misconception about the Rangers signings. Chris Drury, Scott Gomez, and even guys like Bobby Holik came here and put up pretty similar numbers to their career average.

The real problem was we paid them like players who average 80-100 points so we expected them to come here and put up more points.

Just take a look at those guys averages before coming here. It really is not that different from their numbers here. Infact Gomez had one of his best point totals as a Ranger

These lines are a problem... A positive of AV was his tendency to stay with lines, but there are times where it drives me nuts. It's very obvious when there is no flow and they really aren't doing much.

Also worth noting how many of our goals recently have been scored by defensemen. Make some changes to the lines..

What is going on with Hags ? He's having a really streaky season.

Did he get injured last night ? Or was AV so mad that he literally thought Dorsett was a better fit on the line than Hagelin and benched him

More often than not? Come on with the hyperbole. He has played fantastic for us before his injuries, he comes back and takes some time adjusting. He, and the rest of the d-core including McD, had a rough start to the year. Every now and then they have rough games.

I knew this was a definite loss, hurricanes were ready for this one, and whenever I play hockey in my league on the same night as a Rangers game it is always a loss...I'm like 0-33 in the last 3 years when the Rangers play on a night I have my own hockey game...incredible

Does a bear **** in the woods?...when Staal crashes into Hank is that interference?

Nash has to be better.

I probably saw the least amount of minutes for any game this season last night, but the little i watched he wasnt very dynamic. Heres a guy who will continue to get less attention with St. Louis on the team now. He needs to be a force out there and be more consistent - and more importantly he has to be a leader on this team.

I dont see it. Where the **** is it? Show some ******* emotion and get going. You came to the Rangers to play in big games. You welcomed it. Well here they are big boy.

6'4" marshmallow, has zero ticker...that line has to be broken up

Playing Door-stop with Richards and Kreider with 7 minutes left in a 2-1 game....priceless!

I got a kick out of that. I had to do a double take on that as well, I guess when you are desperate you'll just throw anyone out there.
